PD: Woman Caused Crash on Lunch Hour; Tossed Vodka Pint As Cop Watched

Middletown Police say a 51-year-old Connecticut Valley Hospital employee was seen by an officer tossing a vodka bottle from her car after driving away from a three-car accident she caused while drinking.

Connecticut State Police, Troop F Westbrook, note the following incident:

CRIMINAL IMPERSONATION — On May 27 at 3:01 p.m., Sarah Valentine, 24, of Kieft Road was stopped on Baileyville Road in Middlefield for speeding and gave a fake name, according to the police report. She was found with an active warrant from both Middletown and Hartford police.

SECOND-DEGREE HARASSMENT — On May 25 at 9:30 a.m., Maria Waz, 57, of Washington Street was found at Middletown Superior Court with an outstanding warrant.

EVADING RESPONSIBILITY — On May 25 at 11:10 a.m., Cody M. Wilson, 23, of Front Street turned himself in on an outstanding warrant.

TRAVELING TOO FAST FOR CONDITIONS, DUI — On May 23 at 2:30 p.m., Michele E. Ciriello, 51, of Greenwich Court, was involved in a car crash at Saybrook Road and Tryon Street. Ciriello, driving a Ford Freestar, hit a Toyota Corolla stopped for a red light, which hit the Buick LeSabre also stopped at the light. The report says Ciriello was told by a firefighter she was “all set” after signing a refusal for treatment and left the scene. One officer found her driving on Frisbie Street and saw her throw a pint-size vodka bottle out the car window; the report says she stopped the car but then it rolled back and hit the officer’s cruiser. Ciriello, who works at Connecticut Valley Hospital, admitted, the report says, to leaving work at lunch to get a sandwich, was involved in the car crash and then stopped at a package store to purchase liquor before returning to her job.
