PD: Connecticut River Body at Middletown Identified as Male

Middletown Police are working with the Connecticut chief medical examiner's office to determine the circumstances that led to the death of a man found Saturday afternoon in the Connecticut River at Middletown.

At 3 p.m. Saturday, according to a press release, the Middletown Police Marine Unit responded to a call of a body found in the Connecticut River North of the Arrigoni Bridge. The body had been discovered by two fishermen who were fishing by boat in the area between Wilcox Island and the Middletown shoreline.

Members of the Middletown Police Marine Unit recovered the body with the assistance of the Middletown Fire Department. The body appears to be that of a male.

Identification of this individual is being withheld pending further investigation by this agency, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, and notification of the decedent’s next of kin.

The investigation is continuing, according to police.
