PD: Bristol Man Broke Popular Bakery's Windows, Causing $920 in Damage

Police say the 25-year-old suspect vandalized a Middletown North End cupcakery's storefront but couldn't offer an explanation for his actions.

A popular North End bakery is cleaning up after a vandal broke two storefront windows over the weekend, according to Middletown Police.

On Jan. 19 at 9:26 p.m., police were called to NoRA Cupcake Co. at 696-700 Main Street after two witnesses saw Mike Curiel, 25, of Gridley Street, Bristol, kick in two of NoRA Cupcake Co.'s storefront windows, according to the report.

Soon afterward, officers found Curiel walking on North Main Street and he offered little information when asked about the vandalism, saying he was in Middletown to meet friends but couldn't elaborate on where he lived, where he was headed to or coming from, according to the report.

Eventually Curiel told officers a number of conflicting stories about what he had done moments before, the report says, and after the witnesses confirmed his involvement in the crime following a drive-by in a police cruiser, he was handcuffed and arrested but actively resisted.

Total damage to the NoRA Cupcake's front windows were estimated at $920, according to police,
