PD: Reckless ATV Operator Offers Robbery in Exchange for Dropped Charges

Middletown Police say a 33-year-old city man who drove a quad in traffic and on the sidewalk on Main Street appeared to be under the influence of drugs after it took four officers to tackle him.

A 33-year-old city man was arrested for the third time in less than a month after he drove an all-terrain vehicle erratically on Main Street and along the sidewalk, according to .

On June 14, , 33, of Home Avenue was seen by street crime/narcotics officers driving a yellow 2003 Suzuki 2400 Quadsport four-wheeler reckless on Grand Street, cutting off traffic on Main Street proceeding at a green light, the report says.

Morello jumped the curb and sped along the sidewalk toward the Buttonwood Tree where pedestrians stood, police say. The report says Morello refused commands to stop and when he did, had delayed and "illogical" responses; and had to be forcibly removed from it as he actively resisted arrest.

It took four officers to control his body, after exhibiting "increased strenght from the substance he was influenced by," the report says, and he "rambled incoherently" and was found with a glass crack pipe, a cell phone with numerous text messages about narcotics sales and purchase.

Moments later, the report says, Morello sat up and couldn't remember what he had just done. He told officer the quad was his brother's.

At 7:30 p.m., Morello reportedly asked officers to throw out his case and forget what happened; then asked to cut a deal "and he could go rob people for us and give us the money or jewelry he robbed," and that he enjoyed robbing drug dealers.

He was charged with insurance coverage fails minimum, operation of an all-terrain vehicle without registration and improper crossing in an atv;  non-student possessing drug paraphernalia near school and interfering with an officer.

Morello was also arrested May 20 and June 15 by Middletown Police. See details and .
