PD: Man Faces Animal Cruelty for Leaving Dog in 114-Degree Car for 13 Hours

The following police reports are obtained directly from the Middletown Police public information officer and inclusion on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

A young man is facing an animal cruelty charge after a passerby found his small dog locked in a 114-degree car for 13 hours outside his home, according to Middletown Police.

On June 25 at 8:43 a.m., police were called to a home on Liberty Street, where the animal control officer saw a small canine panting heavily inside a locked car with windows down a few inches. A thermometer registered 113.9 degrees, the report says, on a day with 83 percent humidity and 95 degrees outside.

Inside the home, Emiliano Badillo Jr., 18, of Liberty Street admitted to leaving the dog inside the car for 13 hours without checking on it or providing water, police say.
