PD: Business Owner Punched Worker Who Demanded Full Wages

Middletown Police charged a 64-year-old Rocky Hill man with breach of peace after he allegedly punched a man who did carpet work for him.

 

A Middletown business owner is facing a misdemeanor charge after police say he punched an employee who demanded he be fully paid for his work, according to a police report.

On Sept. 11 at 3:41 p.m., Ronald G. Mayette, 64, of Applewood Lane, Rocky Hill, the owner of R&M Carpet Sales on Newfield Street told police he argued with a past employee about wages, who punched him but missed and Mayette fell on the ground, the report says, hurting his hand.

The victim said he did carpet work for Mayette earlier in the day but was not fully paid, they argued, and Mayette punched him, the report says. A witness, also a business owner, saw Mayette punch the man, police say.

Mayette was charged with second-degree breach of peace. He's due back in court on Sept. 19.
