PD: Man and Aunt, Persistent Crack Dealers, Charged in Narcotics Sting

Middletown Police say a 67-year-old woman stuffed bags of crack cocaine down her pants when officers arrested her and her nephew after a three-month investigation of their drug activity.

A three-month narcotics investigation has led to the arrest of a 36-year-old city man and his 67-year-old aunt, who Middletown Police say were dealing crack cocaine from two city apartments.

On Jan. 31, the street crime unit served a search warrant on Tyrone “Mack” Woodson, 36, and the home of his aunt, Lilly Alston, 67, at 40 Ferry Street.

Woodson, police say, had been seen selling crack cocaine out of his aunt’s apartment on several occasions and seen selling crack out of the home of his cousin, Linda Alston-Scott, 50, on Liberty Street on several occasions.

Police received numerous citizen complaints, which led to the investigation.

On  Nov. 16, 2012, the report says, a search warrant was served on Woodson and the residence of 1189 Washington Street, in which he was charged with possession of crack cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Woodson was then released on a $25,000 surety bond posted by Alston-Scott and told he would be arrested for trespassing if he returned to 1189 Washington St. Both, police say, were told to stop selling drugs in her home on Liberty Street.

During December 2012, Woodson violated his probation and was released on bond for his violation, according to the report.

On Jan. 2, Woodson returned to 1189 Washington St. and was arrested for first-degree criminal trespass, police say, and then released on a $2,500 bond posted by Alston-Scott. Both were again advised that Woodson was selling crack in the north end of Middletown and it needed to stop, police say.

On Jan. 31, detectives found Woodson selling narcotics at 13A Liberty Street and Alston-Scott was seen driving Woodson up to Hartford, then both returned to Middletown.

The report says when officers detained them, Alston Scott left the car and a bag of crack cocaine weighing 1.3 grams fell to the ground.

A police canine found a second bag of crack cocaine in Alston-Scott’s pants which weighed 7.2 grams, along with a small amount of marijuana, the report indicates.

Alston-Scott said Woodson threw the bags of crack at her when the police pulled them over and stuffed the bags of crack down her pants, the report says.

Woodson was arrested and held on a  $250,000 surety bond for: possession of crack cocaine, and with intent to sell, and with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia in a school zone.

Alston-Scott was arrested and held on a $100,000 surety bond for: possession of crack cocaine, and with intent to sell, and with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school.
