Motorcycle Operator Critically Injured in Newfield Street Accident

Middletown Police say a 23-year-old city man is in critical condition at Hartford Hospital after a Volvo collided with his motorcycle Saturday.

A 23-year-old Middletown man is in critical condition at Hartford Hospital after a Volvo collided with his motorcycle Saturday, according to Middletown Police.

On Nov. 3 at 6:20 p.m., a serious motor vehicle collision took place at 558 Newfield Street, the Newfield Pizza plaza.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a 1998 Volvo, operated by Krzsztof Piotrowski, 43, of Middletown, was traveling south on Newfield Street. A 2003 Yamaha motorcycle driven by Scott Hatje, 23, of Middletown, was traveling north on Newfield Street.

The 1998 Volvo and the 2003 Yamaha made contact as the Volvo tried to turn left into the Newfield Street plaza.

Hatje was transported to Hartford Hospital and is listed in critical condition.  The operator of the Volvo was not injured.
