Middletown Police Need Your Help to Catch Power Equipment Thieves

Nearly $20,000 in landscaping machinery, such as professional lawn mowers and electric greenery trimmers, was stolen. Videotape shows two men were involved.

Police have turned up few leads in the June theft of $20,000 in power landscaping equipment from the factory building that houses a number of small businesses in the north end of town.

Nearly $20,000 worth of power landscaping equipment was stolen from one of the businesses at Middletown's Remington Rand building at 180 Johnson Street on June 29.

No arrests have been made according to Middletown Capt. Gary Wallace of the investigative services division. Detectives are still seeking the public's assistance with any information leading to the individuals responsible or locating the equipment.

According to police, a video camera at the location shows a full size pick up truck pulling into the rear of the property shortly after 10:30 p.m and shows a heavy set white male exiting the driver’s seat wearing a tee-shirt and shorts.

Among the equipment stolen include a Scag Zero Turn Tiger Cat, a Scag Walk Behind 48” mower, three Echo String Trimmers, and the Premier brand TL 142 trailer the machinery was loaded on.

Remington Rand's tenants include a diverse mix of businesses, including several fitness studios, a custom motorcycle builder, landscaping companies and an automated mail processor.
