The Middletown Police Department welcomed two new officers Friday at a ceremony in city hall council chambers.
Steven E. Froberg previously worked at New Britain Police Department and Simsbury Police Department. He has been a police officer since 2005 and is also an active member in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve.
Patrick M. Kiely has been a police officer since 2010 working for the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (Connecticut Valley Hospital). He is also a part-time officer with the Woodbury Police Department. Kiely served with the Army National Guard from 2003-2011 with one combat tour in Afghanistan.
In March, the department promoted two officers: Sgt. Richard Davis was pinned with the rank of lieutenant and Detective Daniel Smith rose to the rank of sergeant.
The department covers 42 square miles and a population of 47,000 people and consists of 105 sworn officers and 25 civilian full-time and part time personnel.
