Middletown Police Welcome Two New Officers

Steven E. Froberg comes to the city from Simsbury Police and Patrick M. Kiely most recently served on the Connecticut Valley Hospital police force.

The Middletown Police Department welcomed two new officers Friday at a ceremony in city hall council chambers.

Steven E. Froberg previously worked at New Britain Police Department and Simsbury Police Department. He has been a police officer since 2005 and is also an active member in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve.

Patrick M. Kiely has been a police officer since 2010 working for the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (Connecticut Valley Hospital). He is also a part-time officer with the Woodbury Police Department.  Kiely served with the Army National Guard from 2003-2011 with one combat tour in Afghanistan.

In March, the department promoted two officers: Sgt. Richard Davis was pinned with the rank of lieutenant and Detective Daniel Smith rose to the rank of sergeant.

The department covers 42 square miles and a population of 47,000 people and consists of 105 sworn officers and 25 civilian full-time and part time personnel.
