Middletown Officers Awarded for Bravery, Lifesaving Work

A number of Middletown police were honored for their actions and service to the community Tuesday at an awards ceremony at Wesleyan University's Beckham Hall.

The Chief's Award is given to any member of the department who has exemplified excellence, professionalism and integrity and deserving of recognition.

It is the only department award that is recognized by the Chief of Police without the involvement of the awards committee.

Officer Bill Warner is this year's recipient, serving as Community Liaison Officer for more than two years, consistently representing the department working with city departments, community and service organizations, church and youth groups, and other agencies.

According to a statement read by Chief of Police Bill McKenna, "Warner is committed to serving the community with the utmost professionalism, and he takes pride in his work while performing his many duties with excellence."
