Middletown Arrests: Oct. 15-19

The following police reports come from the Middletown Police public information officer. Individuals named here reflect charges filed, never a conviction.

Middletown Police report the following incidents:

Oct. 19

FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH FINGERPRINTS, INTERFERING WITH OFFICER, ASSAULT PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICER, SECOND-DEGREE BREACH OF PEACE — At 4:23 a.m., Craig Haynes, 25, of Kent Street was involved in a fight on Spring Street with Cecilio Toledano over stolen money, according to the report, and tried to flee officers. Toledano was found hiding in his girlfriend's apartment, police indicate. Haynes coughed in an officer's face, the report indicates, and tried to spit on another while making derogatory comments. Haynes' record indicates several larceny and burglary convictions and Toledano's a failure to appear charge from 2004. Haynes was charged with the above and Toledano with second-degree breach of peace.

FIRST-DEGREE CRIMINAL TRESPASS, INTERFERING WITH AN OFFICER — At 8:49 p.m., Thomas Hirsch, 62, of College Street was causing a disturbance at Krust restaurant on Main Street. He was arrested on Oct. 8 for similar charges, according to the report. Police say Hirsch was demanding that Krust owners pay to replace his $200 fur coat which was ripped during the Oct. 8 altercation. The report says Hirsch fought arrest again and his glasses hit the hood of a parked car and cut his eyelid. While being booked, police say, he told officers he was going to get the Mafia to get his money and was going to "sucker punch" one of the owners. 

On Oct. 8, police say, Hirsch pushed the owner of Krust and threatened to return to collect his money. At 3:20 p.m. the next day, police were called about Hirsch who was harassing the other owner of Krust and employees twice that day. He was charged with first-degree criminal trespass.

Oct. 17

RISK OF INJURY TO CHILD — Janathan P. Maya, 33, and Haylee Maya, 21, of Daddario Road turned themselves in on outstanding warrants.

Oct. 15

FAILURE TO RENEW REGISTRATION, INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS — At 4:09 p.m., police were called to Main Street in front of the fire station for an accident involving a school bus and a car driven by Norman Therialt, 57, of Charter Oak Street, Manchester, according to the report, in which the bus hit a board sticking eight feet out of the rear of Therialt's parked car.
