Middletown Arrests: May 10-28

The following police reports are obtained from the Middletown Police public information officer and inclusion on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

Middletown Police report the following incidents:

May 28
RISK OF INJURY TO CHILD, BREACH OF PEACE, SECOND-DEGREE RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT — At 12:28 a.m., police were called to Loveland and South Main streets about a person who was driving being followed by a car. Anthony Longo, 24, of View Street, Meriden, told officers he was out for a "joy ride," according to the report and denied following his ex-girlfriend's car. The report says the victim's brother, who was driving, struck a parked car trying to get away from Longo, who was following the car very closely, then pulled ahead of their vehicle and abruptly stopped. The report says the couple have a child together and have been separated for a month. 

INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM — At 1:02 a.m., Jesus Sanchez Jr., 23, of Woodside Avenue, Danbury, was involved in a two-car crash on Loveland Street by Hubbard. The report says he admitted to driving without insurance but was leaving for military assignment on May 30.

SECOND-DEGREE CRIMINAL TRESPASS, DISORDERLY CONDUCT — At 11:06 p.m., Wayne Bartell, 50, of McKenzie Street was at a home on Burr Street and climbed through a woman's window by pushing in the window fan, according to the report. The victim, waiting in a locked bedroom, told polio they broke up weeks ago. Bartell smelled of alcohol, police say, and denied going inside the home, after calling and asking to come over earlier. 

DISORDERLY CONDUCT, THIRD-DEGREE ASSAULT, SECOND-DEGREE UNLAWFUL RESTRAINT — At 4:04 p.m., Steven T. Stolfi, 19, of Fern Lane, Middle Haddam, was at a home on Park Place during a dispute. According to the report, Stolfi punched his girlfriend in the head and threw a mattress comforter over her head and punched her in the head twice. Stolfi, the report says, was first punched by the woman and he "freaked out" and doesn't remember what happened.

IMPROPER PASSING, THIRD-DEGREE CRIMINAL MISCHIEF, BREACH OF PEACE, SECOND-DEGREE HARASSMENT — At 12:20 a.m., police were called about Lisbon Haughton, 49, of Leland Drive, East Hartford, who was following his ex-girlfriend's car as she visited another ex. The report says she found a note on her windshield says, "he's the love of your life. I hop you and your baby had a good [expletive] time." Police say he drove after her then pulled in front of her car, causing a fender-bender, and screaming that she damaged his car.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT, SECOND-DEGREE UNLAWFUL RESTRAINT — Shamaz Perry, 24, of Spring Street was at a domestic dispute on Rose Circle and fought with his child's mother, according to the report. The report says Perry had the couple's daughter and didn't answer the phone so the mother went to his house and found his mother had the child. Perry, the report says, left with a female friend; when he returned they fought and he pushed her up against the building and they fell during the struggle and he squeezed her neck. 

DISORDERLY CONDUCT — At 1:15 p.m., Krystal Cloutier, 27, was arrested after an argument with her live-in girlfriend Allison Demers, 28, both of Washington Street, in which she punched and spit on the victim, according to the report. Police say Demers grabbed Cloutier by the shoulders and wouldn't let her leave. Both women were arrested.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT, SECOND-DEGREE UNLAWFUL RESTRAINT — At 10:12 p.m., Omar Mitchell, 34, of Industrial Park Road, Cromwell, was at the home of his estranged wife on Santangelo Circle. When officers arrived, the report says, she was crying after Mitchell yelled at her boyfriend, smashed her cell phone and took the keys to her home. The report says Mitchell threatened to shoot the boyfriend's knee and when he left, refused to let the victim leave. When police arrived, they found Mitchell trying to leave out the basement hatchway and he told them it was his phone to break and he did nothing wrong.

May 24
FIRST-DEGREE CRIMINAL TRESPASS — At 6:49 p.m., police were called to Traverse Square about an unwanted person who had been told multiple times not to return, including the prior night, according to the report. Daniel J. Ventre, 29, of Summerhill Road was there, police say, didn't remember being told to stay away and just wanted to apologize to a woman.

OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE WHEN LICENSE SUSPENDED, FAILURE TO REINSTATE LICENSE IN 60 DAYS — At 6:44 p.m., Michael A. Jarrett, 22, of Arkay Drive, Higganum, was on the 300 block of Main Street and involved in a car accident. The report says there were no injuries.

INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM, PASSING ON THE RIGHT — At 6:50 a.m., police responding to a two-car accident on Industrial Park Road involving William K. Sorenson, 41, of Middle Street and his Ford Focus.

SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — At 11 a.m., Vlora Mehmedi, 26, of Delaware Avenue, Waterbury, was picked up during a routine motor vehicle stop for an outstanding warrant from Waterbury.

May 20
OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE WITH SUSPENDED LICENSE AND UNREGISTERED — At 5:37 p.m., Adalberto Alicea, 44, of Thomas Street was at Washington and Broad streets. 

OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE WITH SUSPENDED LICENSE — At 5:16 p.m., Veronica E. Lifland, 21, of River Road, Essex, was driving on Washington Street at Bernie O'Rourke Drive.

May 16
RECKLESS DRIVING, POSSESSION LESS THAN HALF-OUNCE MARIJUANA — At 6:14 p.m., Justin Kenning, 32, of Summer Hill Road, Madison, was driving a Subaru Legacy on South Main Street at Randolph Road and an officer heard him slam on his brakes, causing his tires to squeal, according to the report. He almost hit another car in front of him stopped at the red light and other drivers had to avoid him to prevent an accident, police say. After driving through the red light at an excessive speed, police stopped him and found a 6- to 7-year-old boy inside, whom he said was his ex-fiance's son. The report says he denied running the red light and became very nervous and, when the officer smelled marijuana, said it was from the pizza he had just purchased. A search revealed a digital scale with marijuana and cocaine residue, a paper bag full of hypodermic needles, and five bottles of methadone, which Kenning admitted were his. He told police the needles were for a friend who is on steroids, according to the report.

OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE WITH SUSPENDED LICENSE, INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM — At 9:22 p.m., Joshua A. Sticht, 19, of West High Street, East Hampton, was driving a Nissan Maxima on South Main Street with a headlight out. The officer smelled marijuana inside but none was found.

May 10
TINTED WINDOWS, POSSESSION LESS THAN HALF-OUNCE MARIJUANA, OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE WITH SUSPENDED LICENSE — At 7:29 p.m., Aaron M. Davis, 20, of East Lake Place was driving a Honda Accord on Long Lane and Cross Street with illegally tinted windows. According to the report, the officer saw him park at and then go into Neon Deli while looking at the cruiser, then exit the store and walk away. The officer stopped Davis and told him to return to the car, where, according to the report, a search revealed marijuana totaling 2 grams inside.
