Middletown Arrests: June 20 to July 1

The following police reports are obtained directly from the Middletown Police public information officer and inclusion on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

Middletown Police report the following incidents:

July 1

TRAVELING UNREASONABLE FAST, RECKLESS DRIVING, DUI, FAILURE TO DRIVE RIGHT, FAILURE TO GRANT RIGHT OF WAY, ASSAULT PUBLIC SAFETY PERSONNEL, THIRD-DEGREE ASSAULT — At 12:13 a.m., an off-duty officer driving on South Main Street and saw Ilya Yudin, 55, of South Front Street driving a Mercedes while appearing intoxicated, according to the report. She applied her brakes several times unnecessarily and pulled into the parking lot at Stone Gate Apartments and went inside. The officer identified himself loudly with a badge and portable radio, the report says, and he ignored him, then clenched both his fists and stood his ground then advanced toward the officer in a fighting stance and got into a physical altercation with the officer. Back at the station, he refused to take a field sobriety test, submitted to a breathalyzer test, which registered .1984 and .120.

FOURTH-DEGREE LARCENY — At 6:30 a.m., Matthew R. Gaffey, 26, of Warwick Street turned himself in on an outstanding warrant.

THREE COUNTS VIOLATION OF PROBATION — At 2:22 p.m., Aaron M. Davis, 20, of East Lake Place was at the Gulf Gas Station on Washington Street was found with three outstanding warrants from Middletown and Wallingford.

SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — At 11 a.m., Kristine K. Sanfilippo, 60, of Sunny Brook Lane, Clinton, was taken into custody at adult probation on Main Street on an outstanding warrant from Clinton. 

VIOLATION OF PROBATION, POSSESSION LESS THAN HALF-OUNCE MARIJUANA — At 7:30 p.m., Nathaniel Perez, 21, of Green Street was a passenger in a parked car inside which police smelled marijuana, the report says, and found a partially burnt marijuana cigarette he admitted to smoking earlier in the day. He was found with an active warrant from Meriden. 

FIFTH-DEGREE LARCENY — At 12 p.m., Newington Police arrested Russell Culver, 34, of Cooley Avenue on Kitts Lane.

FIFTH-DEGREE LARCENY — At 7:30 a.m., Loralyn Betsey, 40, of Standish Lane, Hartford, was picked up by Glastonbury Police on an outstanding warrant.

VIOLATION OF PROTECTIVE ORDER — At 2:30 a.m., police were called to a home on Briarwood Lane by the ex-girlfriend of Matthew Dragone, 29, of Fowler Avenue about him sending several text messages and (anonymously) a box of chocolate-covered strawberries to her work, Ruby Tuesday's, according to the report. Police say there was a protective order in force and she had recently changed her phone number. Police called Dragone, who told them he didn't want to meet because he was too tired, then said he was at a hotel on the Berlin Turnpike. Officers went to his Fowler Avenue address and found him hiding behind a chair in his grandmother's bedroom. He then asked how much his bond would be because he didn't have a lot of money to spend, the report says, and admitted the chocolates cost him $50. He has ten prior arrests, police say. On June 29 at 1:02 a.m., the victim called to say Dragone was calling her phone repeatedly, and he had a history of "spoofing" her cell number from different unknown phone numbers, according to the report. Police say when apprehended, Dragone kept asking questions and repeatedly asked officers to examinee his Facebook page for an irrelevant post.

OPERATION WHEN LICENSE SUSPENDED, DRIVING WHILE USING CELL PHONE, TINTED WINDOWS — At 6:32 p.m., Adma Kuljancic, 26, of Washington Street was driving a Nissan Altima on Main Street Extension while talking on the phone. The report says she denied talking on the phone, saying she was listening to music. When told her license was suspended, Kulijancic didn't know that and showed the officer a receipt from New Britain court proving she paid a fine.

SECOND-DEGREE CRIMINAL MISCHIEF, FOURTH-DEGREE LARCENY — At 4:30 p.m., Noble D. Allbright, 31, of East Ridge Road was picked up by Connecticut State Police on an outstanding warrant.

OPERATION WHEN LICENSE SUSPENDED, FAILURE TO HAVE STOP LAMPS, FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH WINDOW TINTING REQUIREMENTS — At 6:32 a.m., Elvin J. Grullon-Peguero, 27, of Fountain Terrace, New Haven, was driving a Honda Civic on Middle Street and failed to stop at Boardman Lane, according to the report, with an unlit brake light. He told police he was on his way to work and left his wallet at home. His record shows two arrests for failure to appear.

FAILURE TO RESPOND, SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR, DISORDERLY CONDUCT, INTERFERING WITH EMERGENCY CALL — At 12 p.m., Michael A. McLean, 32, of Grand Street was involved in a domestic fight with his live-in girlfriend, Lisaan U. Siena, 37, according to the report, and was found with two active warrants. The report says his face was covered with "fresh, bloody scratch marks" and told police the fight was over a "prank" involving a photo he received on his cell phone at 9 p.m. of a women with her breasts "hanging out," which caused his girlfriend to "go crazy" after she was drinking alcohol. Siena told police McLean countered by saying she had "stuff" on her phone as well, according to the report, and trying to take her phone, then grabbed her around the neck with one hand. He was charged with the above and Siena for third-degree assault. 

June 26

OPERATE UNREGISTERED VEHICLE, INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS, OPERATION WHEN LICENSE SUSPENDED — At 10:54 p.m., Gregory LaFlamme, 23, of Cimarron Road was driving a Honda Accord on Russet Lane and stopped for a motor vehicle violation. The report says his license was seized by Wethersfield Police.

June 25

DISORDERLY CONDUCT — At 10:35 p.m., Nicole Sotelo, 18, of Stoneycrest Drive was involved in a screaming fight at her home with her juvenile brother, according to the report. At 10 p.m., Sotelo came home from her boyfriend's house and saw her brother had thrown her belongings around the bedroom so she pushed him and he smacked her, put her in a headlock  and smacked her again, the report says. The brother told police the fight was over his dresser and bed after he demanded them back from her. 

SECOND-DEGREE BREACH OF PEACE — At 9:01 p.m., Jason Stone, 42, of Hillside Court was in the apartment with his live-in girlfriend and threw wine in her face during an argument, according to the report. Earlier that night, the victim said, they were out having drinks when someone upset him with a comment so they went home and she watered her flowers. Stone, police say, kept "nagging" his girlfriend to talk about the incident and she told him she'd do so after watering her flowers.

INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM, FAILURE TO CARRY CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE, ILLEGAL OPERATION OF MOTOR VEHICLE UNDER SUSPENSION — At 9:12 p.m., Elizabeth N. Santos, 23, of Ferry Street was driving a Honda Accord on Westfield Street. 

June 22

USE OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA — At 12:10 a.m., Elizabeth Krawczyk, 38, of no certain address, was a passenger in a car stopped by police at deKoven and Dingwall Drive and, the report says, had a partially burnt glass smoking pipe for cocaine. 

POSSESSION WITH INTENT TO SELL, DISTRIBUTION OF AND POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES AND LESS THAN 1,500 FROM SCHOOL, WEAPONS IN VEHICLE — At 7:42 p.m., police in the parking lot of Dunkin Donuts on Washington Street saw two juveniles and Daniel G. Demelis, 18, of Oxbow Road, Higganum, smoking a marijuana cigarette in the car. The report says he had six Clonazepam pills, four LSD squares and brass knuckles. His phone, police say, had messages indicating he was selling drugs.

June 21

OPERATION WHEN LICENSE SUSPENDED, FAILURE TO YIELD RIGHT OF WAY — At 6:40 a.m., Thomas J. Musa, of Broad Street was driving a Chevy Silverado on Main Street and was seen by police making a U-turn, almost hitting another car driving in the opposite direction, according to the report. Musa told police he went out to get coffee and groceries although his license was suspended because he didn't have a ride otherwise. 

June 20

FAILURE TO KEEP PLATES READABLE,  ILLEGAL OPERATION OF MOTOR VEHICLE UNDER SUSPENSION — At 6:27 p.m., Anthony McCalla, 36, of Pearl Street was driving a Nissan Maxima on Main Street near Court with a plate covered by a dark tinted plastic cover.
