Middletown Arrests: July 6-16

The following police reports are obtained directly from the Middletown Police public information officer and inclusion on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

Middletown Police report the following incidents:

July 16

NON-STUDENT POSSESSING DRUG PARAPHERNALIA NEAR SCHOOL AND IN A DRUG FACTORY, POSSESSION OF LESS THAN A HALF-OUNCE MARIJUANA AND WITH INTENT TO SELL, DISTRIBUTION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES AND LESS THAN 1,500 FEET FROM A SCHOOL, RISK OF INJURY TO CHILD — At 8 p.m., police stopped Christopher White, 34, on Main Street near Kings Avenue with his wife Tiwanda S. White, 35, both of Heather Square, to serve a warrant for his arrest. The report says they had crack cocaine and marijuana, scales, packaging materials, a large amount of cash. White's name has come up over the years several times, police say, during drug investigations, yet he acted surprised when officers told him so, and insisted he just starting doing to when the back began to foreclose on his house, according to the report.

July 14

OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE WHEN LICENSE SUSPENDED — Brian Brown, 42, of no certain address was involved in a car accident at Washington and Newfield streets.

July 12

BREACH OF PEACE — At 6:10 p.m., Zahrod Jackson, 20, of Cynthia Lane  was in the middle of a large crowd of 60 people on Main and Ferry streets, yelling and instigating a fight, according to the report. He told police he was arguing but didn't fight anyone after someone spit on him.

July 10

USE OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, FIRST-DEGREE CRIMINAL TRESPASS — At 6:34 p.m., police were called to an apartment on Pearl Street about Rachel F. Larkin, 31, of no certain address, who was trespassing in a person's yard. The report says she and another woman were doing drugs on the railroad tracks after opening his gate and entering the tracks through the backyard. Police say Larkin had been there many times, according to the homeowner, and that day had two hypodermic needles and a clear glass pipe for heroin.

FIRST-DEGREE CRIMINAL TRESPASS — At 9:52 p.m., Michael M. Muscarella, 57, of no fixed address was found sleeping on the floor of an apartment on Court Street. The report says he was slurring his words and smelled of alcohol, then when asked how much he drank, said, "not enough." On May 31, he was escorted off the same property as an unwanted party.

July 9

ILLEGAL OPERATION UNDER SUSPENSION, USE OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, POSSESSION CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES — At 6:50 p.m., Peter J. Selmecki, 26, of Cloverdale Circle, Wethersfield, was driving a Nissan Altima on Main Street and signaled after turning onto Grand Street, according to the report. Selmecki told police his license was suspended for a DUI and although the officer smelled marijuana he denied it, but a search revealed a used needle, box of syringes, a cotton swab and 10 bags of heroin.

July 8

SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — At 12:45 a.m., Nychola D. Taylor, 23, of Ocean Avenue, Bridgeport, turned himself in on an outstanding warrant.

July 7

OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE WHEN LICENSE SUSPENDED — Edward Valentine W. Jr., 24, of Windsor Avenue, Meriden, was driving an Oldsmobile Aurora on William Street and made a sudden U-turn, according to the report. 

July 6

POSSESSION WITH INTENT TO SELL, DISTRIBUTION AND POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES — At 2:42 a.m., John P. Foster, 52, of Hillside Avenue was a passenger in a Ford Taurus driving on Washington Street with tinted windows. The report says Foster was very nervous and kept putting his hands in his pockets. A search revealed $165 in cash, a pill bottle with nine Oxycotin pills and a Viagra pill. He has 22 prior convictions, the report says, including robbery, assault, failure to appear, possession of narcotics, violation of probation, failure to appear, disorderly conduct, breach of peace, interfering with an officer, larceny and criminal trespass. During booking, police say, Foster's phone repeatedly received text messages with people looking to buy crack cocaine and pills from him.
