Middletown Arrests: July 22-25

The following police reports are obtained directly from the Middletown Police public information officer and inclusion on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

Middletown Police report the following incidents:

July 25

TWO COUNTS FIRST-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR, SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — At 12:40 p.m., Paul S. Dimauro, 23, of Aston Lane was picked up on an outstanding warrant.

THIRD-DEGREE ASSAULT, DISORDERLY CONDUCT — At 5:10 p.m., Melissa Spruill, 41, of Stoneycrest Drive met officers at her door with a towel to her face stained with blood and indicated she had fought with her ex-boyfriend Jojo Cherry, 49, of Stonecrest Drive, according to the report. Cherry, who had an injured lip and scratches on his chest, police say, said they had fought over text messages he sent to her sister and Spruill was the aggressor who had hit him first. Upstairs in the bedroom, the report says, there was drops of and speared blood on items and the floor, and two braids, ripped from Spruill's hair, lying on the floor. Both were charged with the above.

SECOND-DEGREE ASSAULT, DISORDERLY CONDUCT — At 10:45 p.m., police responding to the home of Latrele C. Hall, 39, of Pease Avenue found her crying and screaming on the sidewalk with a wig falling off her head, saying her boyfriend, Johnnie Lassiter, 44, of Pease Avenue, had beat her up, according to the report. He told police he was walking home when he saw Hall, who looked extremely intoxicated, climbing through his apartment window. She refused to leave, police say, so he grabbed hear arm to forcefully walk her out and Hall pushed him and then she fell to the floor and he fell on top of her. Lassiter grabbed a broom and hit her throughout her body then she fell on her face on the concrete steps, according to the report. Hall admitted to entering the home after pushing the air conditioner out and Lassiter punched her in the face several times. He was charged with the above and Hall for first-degree criminal trespass, disorderly conduct and failure to fingerprint. At 9:27 p.m. on July 26, Hall was picked up on an outstanding warrant for violation of probation. She refused to be fingerprinted, police say.

July 24

VIOLATION OF PROTECTIVE ORDER, TWO COUNTS EACH FIRST- AND SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — At 3 a.m., Johny R. Lopez, 30, of Plaza Drive was picked up by Southington Police on five outstanding warrants. 

VIOLATION OF PROTECTIVE ORDER, THIRD-DEGREE ASSAULT — At 3 a.m., police were called to Maplewood Terrace about an unwanted person, Brian Mathis, 19, of Hartland Street, Hartford, who police determined had outstanding warrants. His ex-girlfriend told police he left and was found 45 minutes later when he returned, according to the report. 

July 23

SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — At  9:30 a.m., Brendan Fogerty, 47, of Ellington Road, East Hartford, turned himself in on an outstanding warrant.

THIRD-DEGREE ASSAULT, DISORDERLY CONDUCT — At 3:51 p.m., Jude Ladouceur, 40, of Main Street was charged with throwing his girlfriend to the ground after he said she came after him with a knife, according to the report. The knife, police say, was found in the holder in the kitchen and Ladouceur could not explain how the victim returned it to the kitchen after the fight. 

July 22

NON-STUDENT POSSESSING DRUG PARAPHERNALIA NEAR SCHOOL, ILLEGAL SALE OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, At 9:30 p.m., Alexander J. Tomaselli, 21, of Peters Lane, Rockfall, was observed selling marijuana to an unidentified woman in the parking lot of the M Mart convenience store located at the corner of Newfield and Westfield streets in Middletown. When police stopped Tomaselli near Spencer Elementary School they immediately detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, the report says. The also observed a large butcher's knife in the driver's side door. Inside the vehicle, police say they found a backpack containing 35 grams of marijuana, as well as a digital scale, packaging material, a marijuana grinder and a smoking pipe. After reading Tomaselli his Miranda rights, detectives received permission from Tomaselli and his mother to search his bedroom at 146 Peters Lane where they found an additional 90 grams of marijuana. The drugs had a street value of $1,250, according to police. Police recovered $5,000 from a safe deposit box and $268 in cash that Tomaselli had been carrying, the report says.
