Middletown Arrests: July 1-9

The following police reports are obtained directly from the Middletown Police public information officer and inclusion on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

Middletown Police report the following incidents:

July 9

INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM —  At 1:46 a.m., Kyndra S. Taylor, 36, of Santangelo Circle was driving a Ford Expedition on South Main Street.

SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — At 9:17 p.m., Steven Dickerson, 43, of Chatham Court, Portland, was picked up by the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection police in Old Saybrook on an outstanding warrant.

SECOND-DEGREE CRIMINAL MISCHIEF, DISORDERLY CONDUCT — At 6:24 p.m., John M. Ingalls, 51, of Spring Street was at a home on Hillside Avenue and damaged his ex-girlfriend's apartment, according to the report, putting bleach on her couch and rug, causing $400 worth of damage. He admitted to doing so, police say.

NON-STUDENT POSSESSING DRUG PARAPHERNALIA NEAR SCHOOL — Gary Stewart, 50, of Williams Street was found during a narcotics search warrant service by police who say he had crack cocaine paraphernalia in his bedroom.

POSSESSION CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, NON-STUDENT POSSESSING DRUGS AND PARAPHERNALIA NEAR SCHOOL — Virginia Lovett of Main Street was found to have crack cocaine and paraphernalia during a narcotics search warrant service by police.

NON-STUDENT POSSESSING DRUGS AND PARAPHERNALIA NEAR SCHOOL, POSSESSION CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES, INTERFERING WITH AN OFFICER, ASSAULT PUBLIC SAFETY PERSONNEL, INTERFERING WITH SEARCH, DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY — Jermaine McCrea, 35, of Quinnipiac Avenue, New Haven, was found to have crack cocaine and paraphernalia during a narcotics search warrant service by police. The report says he flushed suspected drugs down the toilet.

VIOLATION OF PROTECTIVE ORDER — At 12:05 p.m., James F. Curran, 42, of Portland-Cobalt Road, Portland, was on Lincoln Street after calling police about a larceny. He was found at his ex-wife's home, according to the report.

July 6

IMPROPER USE MARKER PLATE — Police called to Route 9 and Hartford Avenue about a disabled vehicle found Sarah L. Buys, 29, of Conlon Street, Bristol, driving a Dodge Stratus with plates belonging to a GMC Yukon from Canton. The report says Buys told police those were the plates that came with the car when she bought it in March.

INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM —  At 6:43 p.m., David Gunnison, 27, of Highland Avenue, Waterbury, was driving a Nissan Altima on Washington Street, according to police. When the light turned green and his car didn't move, it was because he was kissing his girlfriend, tying up traffic, the report says. 

SIXTH-DEGREE LARCENY — At 6:20 p.m., Diana R. Flannigan, 59, of Dunn Hill Road, Durham, was at Stop & Shop on East Main Street when loss prevention personnel told police she took Phillips Milk of Magnesia at 5 p.m. The report says she also took contact lens cases, seafood and several boxes of Crystal Light worth a total of $34.52. When the officer asked for the items back, the report says, she only gave up the seafood, the report says. Police say Flanningan said she took the items because she's been jobless for three years and lives with her elderly mother who supports her entirely.

INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM —  At 12:31 a.m., Kaila Ziegler, 19, of Mooreland Hill Road, Kensington, was driving on South Main Street with an obstructed rear license plate, police say.
