Middletown Arrests: Jan. 4-17

The following police reports come from the Middletown Police public information officer. Individuals named here reflect charges filed, never a conviction.

Middletown Police report the following incidents:

Jan. 17

INTERFERING WITH OFFICER, FAILURE TO SUBMIT TO FINGERPRINTS — Alberto M. Jimenez, 30, of Spring Street was a rear passenger in a car stopped for a routine nature, the report says, and the driver and front seat passenger were found with marijuana. Police say Jimenez, who refused to leave the car, struggled with officers and got into a fighting stance, appeared heavily intoxicated and shouted he wanted badge numbers for a "racially motivated" stop. Police used a taser on him although back at headquarters he was still "non-compliant" and asked for a lawyer.

Jan. 16

DISORDERLY CONDUCT — At 10:02 p.m., police were called to a home on Trolley Crossing Lane after a woman called, yelling, "he's hitting me," according to the report, and found Francis E. Vumback, 48, of Trolley Crossing Lane, and his girlfriend, Eliana T. Lapreziosa, 41, of East Main Street fighting about their relationship and then she slapped him in the face three times. Police say Vumback accused Lapreziosa of cheating on him and she is extremely jealous of him, the report says, while Lapreziosa said Vumback grabbed her by the neck and threw her against the kitchen cabinet and slapped her in the face. He admitted to the slap, police say, and both appeared to be highly intoxicated which made interviewing them further impossible. Both were arrested.

Jan. 15

SECOND-DEGREE DISORDERLY CONDUCT — At 9 a.m., police were called to a home on Ferry Street where Tianna T. Hardy, 22, of Hubbard Street and her girlfriend of six years, Pasha L. Pharham, 27, of Ferry Street were fighting after Hardy received a text message from another person, according to the report, and they pushed each other in the bedroom then into the bathroom. Pharham said Hardy hit her in the face and she denied hitting her girlfriend. They observed the toilet top was broken, the report says. Both were charged. 

USE OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, POSSESSION NARCOTICS, SIXTH-DEGREE LARCENY, INTERFERING WITH OFFICER — At 3:57 p.m., police were called about a shoplifting incident involving Angel M. Quinones, 44, of Main Street who reportedly ran from the store, dropping items he had stolen worth $68.82 in total. With officers in pursuit, the report says, Quinones ran across Route 9 to Harbor Park and was caught and found with a glass crack pipe with residue and .5 grams of heroin.

Jan. 14

UNREGISTERED VEHICLE, INSURANCE FAILS MINIMUM — At 2:45 a.m., James M. O'Brien, 27, of Washington Street was driving a Nissan Altima out of the McDonald's parking lot on Washington Street.

Jan. 4

UNREGISTERED VEHICLE, SUSPENDED LICENSE — At 6:39 p.m., Joseph Sapia, 18, of Turkey Hill Road, Haddam, was driving a Dodge truck in the parking lot of Palmer Field, which was closed, the report says.
