Middletown Arrests: Jan. 10 to 23

The following police reports come from the Middletown Police public information officer. Individuals named here reflect charges filed, never a conviction.

Middletown Police report the following incidents:

Jan. 23

UNREGISTERED VEHICLE, INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM, IMPROPER USE MARKER PLATE — At 2:58 p.m., police were called to Woodbury Circle by Clarissa Taylor, 40, of Saybrook Road, who told officers her cell phone was lost while behind the wheel of a Mercury Mystique with a plate belonging to a Kia Optima, according to the report.

TWO COUNTS VIOLATION OF RESTRAINING ORDER — At 8 p.m., police were called to the YMCA on Union Street about an intoxicated man, Hector A. Campos, 47, of Ruth Drive, New Britain, the report says, and he was found with an outstanding warrant.

SECOND-DEGREE BREACH OF PEACE — At 6:44 p.m., Joshua J. Hill, 20, of no certain address was seen running into the intersection of Washington and Main streets after another man in a heavy coat and almost get struck by a car, according to the report. Police say the first man accused Hill of assaulting him however they couldn't gather enough evidence to charge him.

Jan. 16

SUSPENDED LICENSE — At 7:34 p.m., Jessica Cruz, 27, of Rogers Road was driving a Nissan Maxima on Washington Street with unlit tail lights, according to the report, and told the officer she was borrowing it from a friend, was sorry she was driving without lights but they were broken.

Jan. 15

INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM, SUSPENDED LICENSE, FAILURE TO DRIVE AT REASONABLE DISTANCE — At 2:17 p.m., police were called to Washington Street and deKoven Drive for a car accident in which Reynaldo Rodriguez, 24, of Butternut Street, reportedly rear-ended another car.

Jan. 14

SUSPENDED LICENSE — At 1:57 a.m., police found Dorien C. Overton, 34, of Walnut Street driving a Dodge Ram into the Harbor Park lot, back into a spot and turn off the headlights, according to the report, during prohibited hours at the park.

The truck was registered to Showcase Auto and Recovery and a check of Overton's drivers license turned up suspended, police say. By way of explanation, the report says, Overton said he had just gotten off work at 12:47 a.m., picked up his girlfriend, a passenger in the truck. He was aware of the suspension, police indicate, and suspected it was from a ticket he hadn't paid.

DUI, FAILURE TO DRIVE ON RIGHT — At 6:27 p.m., Lesley A. Moreno, 47, of Mattabasset Drive, Meriden, was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee on Newfield Street near Mile Lane in an erratic fashion, according to the report. A witness told police the car was driving all over the road and onto a sidewalk and when officers came upon it, the Jeep was crossing the double-yellow lines on Westfield Street. Moreno smelled heavily of alcohol, according to the report, and had glassy eyes, slurred speech and admitted to having three glasses of wine. She failed sobriety tests and a blood-alcohol level test registered .2299 and .2179, police say, nearly three times over the legal limit of .08.

Jan. 10

SUSPENDED LICENSE — At 1:53 p.m., David B. Young, 29, of Russell Street was driven a Volvo S90 on Rapallo Avenue without a seat belt, according to the report, and an officer smelled marijuana inside the car. Young couldn't produce his drivers license, police say.
