DISORDERLY CONDUCT — At 10:19 p.m., police were called to a home on Prospect Street for an unwanted person. Dominick J. Santamaria, 45, of Wells Street, Niantic, a friend of the landlord, the report says, was found knocking on the door of the upstairs tenant so loudly it nearly broke. Santamaria, the report says, admitted to yelling, swearing, banging on the door, and demanding they come out and fight him, but only did so because his friend said they hadn't paid rent and were living for free.

POSSESSION CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE — At 8 p.m., police were called to a home on Butternut Street about a homeless man, Andrew Baczewski, 48, from Burlington who was intoxicated and unwanted. The report says he was seated outside on a bench with a 40 ounce bottle of beer near him and smelled of alcohol. Baczewski said he needed a ride downtown, the report says, and after being asked to pour out his beer he drank the rest and threw it behind him. He was asked many times to pick it up by officers, then became verbally aggressive. A search revealed three packs of cigarettes, two cell phones, a fork, wallet, and prescription bottle for Tizanidine (muscle relaxant) 4 mg with someone else's name on it.

SIXTH-DEGREE LARCENY — Jeannette Miranda, 35, of Hillside Avenue was at Stop & Shop on East Main Street and, police say, concealed several items in her purse: two pieces of sharp cheddar cheese worth $3.79 each, American cheese worth $3.63, Virginia ham worth $10.24, another item worth $4.35, AA batteries worth $6.99, coffee filters worth $2.59 and tape worth $1.99. The report says she paid for items in her cart but not those in her purse, so store security confronted her and she handed the items back then drove away. Police arrested her at home.

OPERATION UNREGISTERED VEHICLE, INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM, OPERATION WHEN LICENSE IS SUSPENDED — At 10:48 p.m., Calvin B. Ready, 57, of South Main Street was driving a Volkswagen Jetta on Main Street with a broken tail light.

Dec. 20

STOP SIGN VIOLATION, DUI — At 12:46 a.m., Justin J. Rogers, 25, of Jackson Hill Road, Middlefield, was driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer very quickly on Wadsworth Street and failed to stop at the West Street stop sign, the report says. Police say Rogers smelled of alcohol, was confused, slurring his words and had bloodshot and glossy eyes, then said he was coming from La Boca's bar. Police say Rogers admitted to drinking six beers in the last hour and a half, failed sobriety and blood alcohol level tests.
