Middletown Arrests: Jan. 17-23

The following information was provided by the Middletown Police public information officer. An arrest does not constitute a conviction and all defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Middletown Police report the following incidents: 

Jan. 23

BREACH OF PEACE, SECOND-DEGREE CRIMINAL MISCHIEF — At 12:03 p.m., Gregory D. Overton, 36, of Liberty Street was at the Gilead House on Saybrook Road when 911 was called about an unwanted person. The report says Overton came in for outpatient treatment at 11:50 a.m. and became agitated, banging on doors and demanding his money and threatening to "raise hell." The report says he kicked the door and and six staff members fled the building in fear.

VIOLATION OF PROBATION — At 8 p.m., narcotics detectives raided a home on Hillside Avenue and found Devon M. Johnson, 25, of Military Road inside with an outstanding warrant. He's on probation, police say, and had a small amount of marijuana on him.

Jan. 22

OPERATION UNDER SUSPENSION — At 6:41 p.m., Mykeesha J. James, 32, of Long Lane was driving an Infiniti Bearing on West and Washington streets with illegally tinted front driver and passenger side windows. Her license was suspended since May 2012.

VIOLATION OF PROTECTIVE ORDER, THREATENING, BREACH OF PEACE — Sebastiano Rizzo, 55, of Millbrook Road was found by police intoxicated at home after violating a protective order. The report says he threatened to assault his son and vandalize his son's girlfriend's car's tires.

Jan. 21

INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM — At 2:30 p.m., Carmen Slack, 48, of Edinburgh, Madison, was found by Clinton Police with an outstanding warrant from Middletown.

Jan. 19

DUI, RESTRICTED TURN, UNSAFE MOVEMENT, FAILURE TO HAVE TAIL LAMPS — At 2 a.m., Emmanule Morell, 26, of Pleasant Street was stopped  in a Honda Accord at a red light at Main and Washington streets, and was seen by an officer accelerating rapidly, causing the tires to squeal, turned and entered the oncoming lane. The report says he smelled of alcohol and admitted drinking beer earlier, then failed two breath tests.

Jan. 18

SECOND-DEGREE HARASSMENT — Ashley James, 25, of Broad Street, Meriden, was found on Spring Street with an outstanding warrant.

SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — At 4:25 p.m., Megan Lee Hunter, 27, of Liberty Street turned herself in on an outstanding warrant.

OPERATE UNREGISTERED VEHICLE, INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM, DUI — At 10:29 p.m., Mark J. Bernatchez, 48, of Jeffery Lane, Meriden, was driving on Cross Street in a Dodge 1500 and, the report says, admitted to drinking. He failed sobriety and breathalyzer tests, police say.

SIXTH-DEGREE LARCENY — At 10:31 a.m., Jessie Poland, 18, of Smith Road, East Haddam, was seen by security at Bob Stores on East Main Street entering the store, taking a pair of jeans and Fila sneakers worth $39, entered the fitting room and put the sneakers on and put hers in the box. The report says Poland paid for the jeans but not the sneakers.

Jan. 17

EVADING RESPONSIBILITY — Police were called to 87 Main Street about an evading car accident in which a victim was sitting in her car after getting out of work from Middlesex Hospital when she was hit by a car backing up driven by Jill Lorraine Johnson, 45, of North Turnpike Road, Wallingford. The report says the light-colored sedan fled the scene. Shortly afterward, police say, they were called about a disturbance at the Shadow Room on Main Street in which Johnson was fighting with someone on the sidewalk. The report says Johnson was intoxicated and involved involvement in the accident.

INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM, ILLEGAL OPERATION UNDER SUSPENSION, FAILURE TO HAVE TAIL LAMPS — At 6:36 a.m., Christine I. Gomez, 27, of Sylvester Street, Meriden, was driving a Huyandi Santa Fe minivan on Main Street near Court with a tail light out.
