Middletown Arrests: Aug. 25-30

The following information was provided by the Middletown Police Department public information officer. An arrest does not constitute a conviction and all defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Middletown Police report the following incidents:

SECOND-DEGREE BREACH OF PEACE — On Aug. 30 at 2:02 p.m., Jose J. Santiago, 40, of Giddings Street, Hartford, was driving on Union Street, police say, and saw his son and a friend walking to a place on Maple Street and stopped to talk. The son told his father he didn't want to talk to him so, the report indicates, Santiago got out of the car and slapped his son on the back of his head. Santiago told officers he only pushed his son after he got in his face. The father was charged.

FAILURE TO RESPOND — On Aug. 30 Rashaan M. Rankins, 38, of Main Street, Cromwell, turned himself into police on an outstanding warrant.

USE OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, POSSESSION OF NARCOTICS, AND WITH INTENT TO SELL — On Aug. 26 at 1:58 a.m., Terrance Harding, 45, of Johnson Street was seen by an officer crossing Main Street outside the crosswalk, causing cars driving in both directions to slow, the report says. The officer saw Harding throw away a crack pipe and three baggies of a white substance. Another bag weighing .1 gram was found in his pocket, the report indicates.

FAILURE TO CARRY LICENSE, OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE IN VIOLATION OF LICENSE CLASSIFICATION, AND CAUSING UNNECESSARY NOISE — On Aug. 25, Ashley M. Arendt, 20, of South Main Street was driving a Ford Escort on Main Street with a defective exhaust.
