Middletown Arrests: April 30 to May 14

The following police reports are obtained from the Middletown Police public information officer and inclusion on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

Middletown Police report the following incidents:

May 14

FIRST- AND THREE COUNTS SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — John S. Tosta, 42, of Town Brooke Drive was brought in by a bail enforcement officer on four outstanding warrants from Middletown, Cromwell and Wethersfield.

May 13
THIRD-DEGREE BURGLARY, TWO COUNTS FOURTH-DEGREE LARCENY, TWO COUNTS SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR, FAILURE TO RESPOND — At 10 p.m., Lisa R. Monarca, 27, of Court Street was picked up at the Wethersfield Police department on an outstanding warrant. 

OPERATE UNREGISTERED VEHICLE, IMPROPER USE MARKER PLATE, FAILURE TO DISPLAY PLATES, INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM — At 8:38 a.m., Richard M. Smith, 54, of Liberty Street was driving on Main Street without a front plate.

SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — At 7:45 p.m., Limon Bobat, 28, of Stoney Crest Drive was driving a Volkswagen Jetta at West Street and Rogers Road and found with an outstanding warrant.

NARCOTICS NOT KEPT IN ORIGINAL CONTAINER, POSSESSION WITH INTENT TO SELL, POSSESSION CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES, BREACH OF PEACE — At 4:56 p.m., Chris Hicks, 32, of Albion Street, Waterbury, was at the Middletown Area Transit station on Main Street fighting with another man, according to the report, then left. Once found, police say Hicks told them the man was flirting with his girlfriend and then pulled a knife on him. Hicks had an outstanding warrant from Canton. A search revealed a marijuana smoking pipe, four of his mother's checkbooks, her debit card, two social services cards of his mother's, and seven prescription patches belonging to his mother. The witness said Hicks was drinking from a brown paper bag, appeared severely intoxicated, and flicked his cigarette butt into the woman's hair still burning. The report says the man confronted Hicks, who ripped off his shirt and tried to start fighting, and told him to walk away, which he did. An employee witnessed the fight inside the MAT terminal, the report says, and Hicks and the woman appeared to be dating and the woman said, "are you going to yell at me in front of all these people?" and that he'd "deal with her" back in Waterbury. The witness also told police Hicks told the woman, who was sitting next to another man, that she should kiss him and swore at her. Surveillance shows the man had no weapon.

May 6
OPERATE UNREGISTERED VEHICLE, IMPROPER USE MARKER PLATE, FAILURE TO DISPLAY PLATES, INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM — At 7:40 p.m., Michael L. Cruz, 32, of Newfield Street was stopped at Pearl and Grand streets. May 5 OPERATE UNREGISTERED VEHICLE — At 7:50 p.m., Quienia S. Spievey, 22, of Bacon Street, Meriden, was driving on Main Street Extension and East Main Street. 

OPERATE UNREGISTERED VEHICLE, POSSESSION LESS THAN HALF-OUNCE MARIJUANA — At 4:45 p.m., Aaron M. Davis, 20, of East Lake Place was driving on South Main and Norfolk Street and an officer who stopped him smelled marijuana. The report says three baggies of marijuana totaling 2.1 grams were found in the car's center console.

May 3
OPERATE UNREGISTERED VEHICLE, INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM, POSSESSION LESS THAN HALF-OUNCE MARIJUANA — At 6:52 p.m., Joseph Robinson Jr., 47, of Main Street was driving a Ford Explorer on Harbor Drive by River Road. The report says the officer smelled marijuana and found 1 gram inside with two smoking pipes and a metal grinder.

May 1
FAILURE TO OBEY CONTROL SIGNAL, STOP SIGN VIOLATION, NON-STUDENT POSSESSING DRUGS NEAR SCHOOL, POSSESSION WITH INTENT TO SELL, DISTRIBUTION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES LESS THAN 1,500 FEET FROM SCHOOL, POSSESSION LESS THAN HALF-OUNCE MARIJUANA — At 9:09 p.m., John D. Kolman, 19, of Higby Road was driving a Jeep Cherokee at Broad and William streets and disregarded the stop sign. The report says police smelled marijuana inside and a canine found a glass smoking pipe, digital scale, metal grinder, 1.8 grams of pot, cell phone with text messages asking for 1/8th ounces of marijuana, and clear sandwich bags. Police say Kolman admitted the marijuana was for his habit.

April 30
SIXTH-DEGREE LARCENY — At 4:46 p.m., Brandon Drake, 23, of Saybrook Road was in RiteAid on Main Street and found with an outstanding warrant. The report says he is known to run from police and was found with two cans of Red Bull Energy Drink in his pants to which he said, "damn, the one time I steal something," totaling $4.97.
