Man Seriously Injured in Early Morning Car Crash on Ballfall Road

Jairo Solis of Middletown, who was behind the wheel of a BMW 328i, was taken to Hartford Hospital following an accident that sent his car into a telephone pole early Tuesday.

A 29-year-old city man is being treated for serious injuries after the BMW he was driving swerved off the road and hit a telephone pole on Ballfall Road overnight.

Middletown Police say at 3:04 a.m. Tuesday, Jairo Solis of Middletown was traveling on Ballfall a quarter-mile north of Sisk Street when his white 1996 BMW 328i crossed the center line and drove off the west side of the road where it hit a telephone pole.

Solis was transported to Hartford Hospital for serious injuries. It's unclear if road conditions contributed to the accident, however slick roads and the forecast of snow Tuesday during the day closed Middletown public and parochial schools.

The accident is being investigated by the Middletown Police Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team. Anyone who witnessed or has information about the accident is asked to contact Officer Michael Inglis at (860) 638-4063.
