Growling Muffler Leads Police to Arrest Two City Women

Middletown Police reports through May 12

Middletown Police report the following incidents:

FAILURE TO RESPOND TO INFRACTION — On May 12, Joshua A. Warren, 22, of Town Colony Drive was walking on Main Street and police knew he had an outstanding warrant. He was given a May 26 court date.

POSSESSION UNDER 4 OUNCES CANNABIS — On May 12, Nicole N. Spatola, 23, of Plaza Drive was the front passenger in a car driving on Washington Street with a defective muffler. She admitted to a small amount of marijuana in her purse, 1.8 grams. She was given a May 19 court date.

OPERATING MOTOR VEHICLE WITH SUSPENDED DRIVERS LICENSE, IMPROPER MUFFLER, FAILURE TO RETURN LICENSE OR REGISTRATON AFTER SUSPENSION — On May 12, Rizzo B. Grazia, 49, of Plaza Drive was seen driving on Washington Street with a separated muffler tailpipe. She told police she had no idea her license was suspended. She was given a May 19 court date.

THIRD-DEGREE ASSAULT, SECOND-DEGREE BREACH OF PEACE, THIRD-DEGREE CRIMINAL MISCHIEF — On May 11, Greg Margison, 20, of South End Avenue, Durham, was involved in a physical altercation on Washington Street. He had injuries to his hand and admitted to punching the victim. She had non-life-threatening facial injuries and witnessed saw him break his car mirror. He was given a May 25 court date.

SECOND-DEGREE BREACH OF PEACE, SECOND-DEGREE THREATENING — On May 11, Carmen Rivas, 18, of Hickory Circle, Manchester, was involved in a physical fight on Washington Street. Rivas admitted to hitting the victim in the head, yelling and fighting. She was admitted by a witness as the voice of the man on the phone threatening to come and hit the victim’s mother in the head with a crowbar. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries to the face. She was given a May 25 court date.

SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — On May 10, Angie T. Cruz, 30, of Elm Street, Vernon, was brought in on an outstanding warrant and given a May 27 court date.

POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA — On May 2, Gregory T. Hallowell, 21, of East Haddam-Colchester Turnpike was driving on Prospect Street without a seatbelt, no front plate and failed to stop at the stop sign. The officer smelled marijuana coming from the car. Hallowell confirmed he smokes marijuana and gave permission to search his car. Police found a glass pipe in the center console which Hallowell said he forgot was there. Back passenger Eric D. Cook, 25, of Bevir Boulevard, East Hampton, removed a clear baggie of marijuana from his sock, saying to the officer, “you were going to find it anyway.” Cook’s sweatshirt pocket contained a small scale and snuff tin with marijuana inside. In all, 5 grams of marijuana was seized.
