PD: Teen's Former Coach Propositioned Her on Facebook, Sent Explicit Texts

An ex-Middletown softball coach is a facing risk of injury charge after investigators say he struck up an inappropriate relationship with a then 14-year-old through text messages and social media.

 

A former city fifth-grade softball coach charged with risk of injury to a minor after having inappropriate contact with a 14-year-old on Facebook was arraigned in Middletown Superior Court on Tuesday, according to the Middletown Press.

Hans Koning, 30, of Stoney Crest Drive was arrested for an incident that reportedly took place in November 2011. He is due back in court Sept. 18.

The Press is reporting, according to police, the state Department of Children and Families received a hotline call and asked for police to investigate.

"Reportedly, a 15-year-old victim told a treatment worker at the Institute for Living about reportedly being sexually propositioned on Facebook... when the victim was 14. ... The victim and her family went to the police station with a DCF worker to give a report on May 12 this year."
