Former Middletown Resident Sentenced to Eight Months for Illegally Re-Entering U.S.

El Salvadorian native Ramon Salamanca-Sarabia will be deported.

Former Middletown resident Ramon Salamanca-Sarabia, also known as “Eloy Zetina,” 56, a citizen of El Salvador, was sentenced today in Hartford to eight months in prison for illegally reentering the United States following his deportation, according to a press release from      David B. Fein, U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut.

According to court documents and statements, Salamanca-Sarabia, was deported from the United States to El Salvador in 1975. He then illegally reentered the U.S. without first obtaining the consent of the Attorney General or Secretary for the Department of Homeland Security, to reapply for admission.

After Salamanca-Sarabia illegally reentered the U.S., he began using the identity of Zetina. He fraudulently obtained a U.S. passport using that false identity.
