Firefighters Knock Down Blaze at Home Hit by Lightning

Quickly passing thunderstorms Thursday morning caused tumultuous weather that set off the blaze.

There are no injuries in a fire at a home at 30 Schuyler Avenue in Middletown sparked by a lightning strike Thursday morning, according to NBC Connecticut.

A woman and her two young children were home during the blaze that and off a fire in the electrical panel in the basement, according to NBC.

Bricks from one-and-a-half-story circa 1939 cape's chimney were scattered along the front steps and lawn and its chimney was reduced to rubble.

Thunderstorms early Thursday passed through Middletown and there is a possibility of more storms this evening, according to Accuweather.

The residence, a quiet home off Hunting Hill Avenue in Middletown, is owned by Steven and Ricalde Woodhull, according to the assessor's database.
