Couple's Fight Over Car Taxes Ends in Two Arrests

DISORDERLY CONDUCT — On July 6, officers responded to Burr Avenue for a disturbance. Joshua D. Daley, 21, said he was involved in a physical argument with his sister, Meghan Daley, 24. She said he pushed her, grabbed her shirt and ripped it. Both were arrested.

SECOND-DEGREE BREACH OF PEACE — On July 5, Patrick Morrison, 49, of Bow Lane was at the scene of an assault at the Shepard Home. The worker said a resident complained Morrison had not washed the dishes. When the worker asked why, Morrison began yelling, appeared drunk, insulted him and hit him in the shoulder. When police found him, he was yelling and swearing in front of 15-20 people.

FAILURE TO APPEAR — On July 5, Ali G. Jimenez, 29, of Adna Road, Bristol, was stopped for a motor vehicle violation and found with an outstanding warrant from Cromwell for DUI.

SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — On July 5, Derrick Neal, 29, of Day Street, New Britain, was reported as a suspicious person at the Gulf gas station on South Main Street.

ISSUING BACK CHECK, FIFTH-DEGREE LARCENY — On July 5, police found Ebony Mack, 30, of Liberty Street with outstanding warrants.

FIRST-DEGREE LARCENY — On July 5, John Rogers, 21, of Wall Street was witnessed on Woodbury Circle in a stolen BMW taken July 3. He was found walking on Saybrook Road and admitted to stealing it from the Inn at Middletown parking lot.

SIMPLE TRESPASS, INTERFERING WITH OFFICER — On July 4, Terrance M. Nelson, 53, of High Street, New Britain, was seen by police at St. Mary’s Church rectory on South Main Street walking up to a cruiser with his hands in his pockets. The officer said for him to stop and take his hands out of his pockets and ignored him and the barking K-9. The officer pushed him back but he continued to walk toward him so the K-9 bit him on his right leg.

TWO COUNTS SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — On July 4, Asia M. Thompson, 34, of Oak Street, New Britain, was a passenger in a car parked outside a housing complex at 4 a.m. She had warrants from incidents on Jan. 23 on Washington Street and Feb. 16 on Union Street.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT — On July 4, James E. Holley, 51, of Pleasant Street, New Britain, was on Spring Street on the report of a domestic. Children outside said their mother and her boyfriend were fighting. The woman, Gail Lacoss, 38, said her son was disrespectful during dinner, after which Holley began berating him. She intervened, saying not to talk to him that way and they pushed each other and he knocked all the food off the table. Holley said he did do it and admitted to anger issues. Both were arrested.

SECOND-DEGREE BREACH OF PEACE, CRIMINAL VIOLATON OF PROTECTIVE ORDER, SECOND-DEGREE CRIMINAL TRESPASS — On July 3, a victim on North Main Street said her husband, Robert S. James, 40, of Portland Street, had punched her because she refused to give him a beer. A witness saw him running to 27 Grand Street. He was found hiding in the basement of a home on Spring Street. He was found with an extensive criminal history from North Carolina, including convictions for kidnapping, drug violations and assault.

SECOND-DEGREE HARASSMENT — On July 2, Raul Rivera, 39, of Chaning Road, Manchester, was in custody at Manchester Police and found with an outstanding warrant from a May 5 incident on deKoven Drive.

SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — On July 2, Edward Grimes, 46, of Main Street was seen by police making quick gestures with his hands and looking angry at a nearby person. He was found with an outstanding warrant from a Feb. 13 incident.

SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — On July 2, Andres J. Rosado, 19, of Rose Circle was a front passenger in a motor vehicle stop not wearing a seatbelt. He had an outstanding warrant from Meriden.

TWO COUNTS DISORDERLY CONDUCT — On July 2, John Judway, 38, of Burr Avenue was at the scene of a domestic call. Officers heard yelling from inside, knocked on the door but no one answered. It was unlocked so police entered and found a 12-year-old lying on the floor, crying. She said Judway, her father, was arguing with her stepmother, Melissa Stania, 31, just before going on vacation, and it got violent. When she tried to stop it, he pushed her to the ground. The stepmother was changing a 2-year-old’s diaper and said they were fighting over a lost camera charger. She said they both got their car tax bills after a week of concern over finances. Both were arrested.

POSSESSION CRACK COCAINE, AND WITH INTENT TO SELL, AND WITHIN 1,500 FEET OF SCHOOL, AND CONSPIRACY TO SELL, INTERFERING WITH OFFICER, THIRD-DEGREE CRIMINAL TRESPASS — The narcotics unit was patrolling the area of 30 Ferry Street, where numerous complaints of narcotic dealing were made. Tow men were found sitting on a stone wall nearby, Shaun A. Duhaney, 29, of Daniel Boulevard, Bloomfield (a convicted felon and known crack dealer in Middletown), and Dana Cleveland, 26, of Andover Street, Hartford. Duhaney said he was working on Washington Street for a temp agency in the city and visiting his girlfriend at Wharfside Commons. He said he didn’t know her name. Police asked Cleveland what he was doing there and he looked blankly at Duhaney and didn’t answer. He said he was visiting his girlfriend and gave her name and he didn’t know Duhaney. Another officer saw a bag of cocaine (later measured at .7 grams) in Duhaney’s hand. He fought being handcuffed and was found with $252 in cash. While being booked, he said he worked for a golf course in Cromwell, but couldn’t name it or the work he did. He then said he no longer sells crack and police were mistaken it was his, then said he found it on the ground and tried to hide it so he wouldn’t be arrested while on probation. Then he said he found it and had it in his hand because he was going to give it to police so no children got it. Duhaney was arrested on the above charges. Cleveland was charged with interfering with police, third-degree criminal trespass and conspiracy to sell cocaine.
