Cops: White Powder on Man's Nose, Shirt Leads to Cocaine Bust

The Connecticut State Police Troop F in Westbrook reports the following arrest:

DUI — State Police conducting motor vehicle enforcement on Sept. 10 stopped Linda Prunier, 56, of Long Hill Road for speeding in Durham. She was found to driving under the influence.

Middletown Police report the following incidents:

POSSESSION NARCOTICS (SECOND OFFENSE), NON-STUDENT POSSESSING DRUGS NEAR SCHOOL, AND WITH INTENT TO SELL, DISTRIBUTION CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES NEAR SCHOOL, DUI, DRIVING IN PEDESTRIAN SAFETY ZONE — On Sept. 16, at 1:45 a.m., Michael B. Paladino, 30, of Grand Street had stopped his Chevrolet on Main Street and Rapallo Avenue in the middle of the crosswalk. A female, known narcotics user and prostitute, was talking to the driver. When asked for his paperwork, Paladino started to shake and sweat profusely, his speech was slurred and police smelled alcohol on his breath. He had dilated pupils consistent with cocaine use and white powder around his nostril and on his black T-shirt. He failed the field sobriety test and during a strip search was found with a baggie with 5 grams of cocaine. He had $309 in cash.

SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — On Sept. 15 at 5:20 p.m., Nicole M. Calafiore, 22, of Lucinda Lane turned herself into police for an outstanding warrant.

FIRST- AND SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — On Sept. 15 at 9 a.m., Shannon L. White, 22, of Sherwood Forest Lane, Killingworth, turned herself in on three outstanding warrants from Troop F, Hartford and Old Saybrook Police.

OPERATING MOTOR VEHICLE UNDER SUSPENSION — On Sept. 14, police saw a man driving the Saturn of Kacie Yelle, 21, of St. John Street, on St. John Street. She came over and said, “this is [expletive]. I pulled over and made him drive because I wanted to walk the dog.”

TWO COUNTS BREACH OF PEACE — On Sept. 13, police responded to the Newfield Rest Home on Newfield Street because Michael J. Kyttle, 54, of Newfield Street, creating a disturbance. He was seen smoking a cigarette outside. He smelled of alcohol, was swaying back and forth and told police he drank two beers. A woman said he suffers from depression and should not be drinking, he came home drunk and asked for his inhaler; she delayed and he started swearing at her; then turned to a patient and insulted him, threatening to hit him. Kyttle said, “this is [expletive]. I didn’t do anything, all I did was ask for my inhaler and that [expletive] woman wouldn’t get it for me … she is a lying [expletive.]”

OPERATING MOTOR VEHICLE UNDER SUSPENSION, INSURANCE FAILS MINIMUM — On Sept. 12 at 12:36 p.m., Jaclyn M. Meisterling, 20, of Main Street, Cromwell, was driving a Chevrolet and cut in between two private duty work crew trucks. The officer smelled marijuana and found a pipe in her purse, she “feigned shock” and said, “Oh! I forgot that was in there!”

INSURANCE FAILS MINIMUM, OPERATION UNREGISTERED VEHICLE, POSSESSION LESS THAN HALF-OUNCE MARIJUANA, AND DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, NARCOTICS NOT KEPT IN ORIGINAL CONTAINER — On Sept. 12, Christopher J. Bennett, 45, of Hall Avenue, Meriden, did not come to a complete stop at Prospect and Grand streets. Police smelled marijuana and found some (.3 grams) in a duffel bag in the car, and a marijuana pipe and pill bottle with multiple different pills inside: 12 Diazepam 5mg, two Methamphetamine salts, 20mg, and two Adderalls.

NON-STUDENT POSSESSING DRUG PARAPHERNALIA NEAR SCHOOL — On Sept. 11 at 12 p.m., Rachel F. Larkin, 29, of no certain address was seen by police doing a hand-to-hand transaction on Main and Green streets. An officer asked her if she had any illegal items; she said no, but the officer saw a crack pipe protruding from her pants pocket. Also found was a spoon with heroin residue.

USE OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA — On Sept. 10 at 6:39 p.m., officers stopped Gary Steward, 48, of Summer Place, Meriden, while driving on High Street for a stop sign violation. The officer knew he had arrests for narcotics and drug paraphernalia possession and has used cocaine and heroin. He turned over a glass pipe, saying he smokes crack on a regular basis, had three days prior and wanted to again.
