Cops: Wes Student Caught With Pot in Dorm

Middletown Police Reports Through April 10

Middletown Police report the following incidents:

SECOND-DEGREE BREACH OF PEACE — On April 10, Abismel Rivera, 61, of Ronald Road, New Britain, was in a physical altercation with his son-in-law and admitted he punched him in the face to protect his daughter’s well-being. He was given an April 11 court date.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT — On April 9, police were sent to Stack Street for a domestic disturbance. Kasandra L. Denny, 38, said she and her boyfriend of three years got into a verbal argument over infidelity. Denny admitted striking the victim in the face and knocking his glasses off. She was given an April 11 court date.

SECOND-DEGREE CRIMINAL TRESPASS, POSSESSION OF NARCOTICS, DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE AND CRACK COCAINE, FAILURE TO KEEP NARCOTICS IN ORIGINAL CONTAINER — On April 9, Joseph F. Farachi Jr., 52, of Countryside Lane, was at Big Daddy’s Laundry on East Main Street, claiming he was locked in the building at 10:46 p.m., when it had closed at 10 p.m. He was found in possession of crack cocaine, a crack pipe, six Oxycontin pills, one morphine pill, six Clonazenpam pills, one Mirtazapine pill and one Acebutolol pill. He was given an April 22 court date.

POSSESSION UNDER 4 OZ MARIJUANA — On April 5, police were dispatched to 31 McConaughy Drive, Wesleyan University, for a narcotics complaint. A university area coordinator said while conducting fire drills, she saw a glass jar containing marijuana on the coffee table. Police observed another glass jar marked “ginger” with marijuana inside. Jonathan Sung, 19, of Concord Avenue, Cambridge, Mass., affirmed it was his. He was given an April 18 court date.

FIVE COUNTS SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — On April 8, Mario M. Jenkins, 21, of Maplewood Terrace was arrested at a home on Saybrook Road for outstanding warrants. He was given an April 11 court date.

POSSESSION UNDER 4 OZ MARIJUANA — On April 10, police responded to a call that narcotics were being sold out of a large green SUV. Shamell D. Bass, 23, of Oak Street was found seated in the car and officers detected a strong smell of marijuana coming from the inside and a partially burnt marijuana cigarettes on the ground. He was given an April 21 court date.

POSSESSION UNDER 4 OZ MARIJUANA, CRACK COCAINE, COCAINE; MARIJUANA, CRACK COCAINE AND COCAINE WITH INTENT TO SELL; WITHIN 1,500 FEET OF A DAY CARE AND A SCHOOL, INTERFERING WITH AN OFFICER — On April 10, police responded to a call that narcotics were being sold out of a large green SUV on Oak Street. George A. Duggins, 31, of Grove Street was found standing outside. Officers detected a strong smell of marijuana coming from the inside and a partially burnt marijuana cigarettes on the ground. During a pat down, the accused ran from the scene and threw a baggie with indivually packaged rocks of crack cocaine. He was found with a baggie of cocaine and six baggies of marijuana. He was given an April 21 court date.

POSSESSION UNDER 4 OZ MARIJUANA — On April 10, police responded to a call that narcotics were being sold out of a large green SUV on Oak Street. Jashone D. Cunningham, 23, of Evergreen Circle was found seated in the car and officers detected a strong smell of marijuana coming from the inside and a partially burnt marijuana cigarette on the ground. He was given an April 21 court date.

SIMPLE TRESPASS, SECOND-DEGREE CRIMINAL MISCHIEF — On March 27, Lauren Murray, 18, of Farm Hill Road was arrested after police responded to an alarm on Johnson Street. She was found inside the business and told police she didn’t know how she got there. She was given an April 11 court date.
