Cops: Discharged Hospital Patient Makes off With $1K Computer

Middletown Police release the following arrests through June 22.

Middletown Police report the following incidents:

CONSPIRACY TO COMMIT LARCENY — On June 22, David J. St. Amand, 21, of Kristem Lane, Hebron, was at CVS on Main Street Extension on the report of a disturbance in which a male had left the store with $63.54 worth of unpaid items. St. Amand admitted he and his friend had entered the store together and the friend had stolen items but fled the store. He had no money on him and he and the suspect had been arrested earlier for the same charge.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT — On June 22, Brendan Forgarty, 45, of East Main Street was on East Main Street on the report of an unwanted party. He said he had lived there for two years with his girlfriend and wanted her out of the apartment because she had not been home in three days. He said she was out at a friend’s house that evening and appeared to be very drunk. He said when he asked where she had been they began to argue and he went outside for a cigarette. When he reentered, the front door was locked so he broke the window to get back inside. She said when he arrived home he began to insult and call her names so she gave him a cigarette. When he left, she locked the door and called police then heard him break the window and climb inside.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT, INTERFERING WITH OFFICER, CRIMINAL VIOLATION OF PROTECTIVE ORDER — On June 21, David A. Fonda, 27, of William Street was on the second floor of a building on the report of a possible domestic disturbance. The caller from the first floor heard a female on the second floor crying and saying, “get off me.” Police found that Fonda, who lived there, is the subject of several protective orders. Police forced their way inside using an entry tool. They found a locked interior door and after kicking it down, found Fonda, the victim and young child. The victim said she and Fonda were arguing and she tried to walk past him when he grabbed her arm tightly and wouldn’t let go. She appeared to have bruises on her arms.

SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — On June 21, Wayne Serra, 40, of King George Avenue, San Jose, Calif., turned himself into police on an outstanding warrant.

NO STOP LAMPS , OPERATING MOTOR VEHICLE WITH SUSPENDED REGISTRATION, POSSESSION UNDER 4 OZ MARIJUANA — On June 17, Nicole M. Riley, 20, of Woodland Drive, Cromwell, was driving on Main Street without a right brake light. When asked if she had anything illegal in the car, she began breathing heavily and said, “What is your probably cause for a search?” The officer said he was getting a narcotics dog to walk around the car and she said she had marijuana (6.9 grams) in her pocket.

SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — On June 15, Eric A. Cloud, 21, of Windsor Avenue, Meriden, turned himself in on an outstanding warrant stemming from a Feb. 25 incident on Washington Street.

OPERATING MOTOR VEHICLE WITH SUSPENDED DRIVERS LICENSE — On June 12, Ira Locks, 30, of Daggett Street, New Haven, was stopped on Washington Street for a car equipment violation.

FIFTH-DEGREE LARCENY — On June 8, Michael Donovan, 44, of Main Street was being treated at Middlesex Hospital and asked a nurse if he could remain in his room a few more minutes before being discharged to wait for his ride. When she returned, Donovan was gone. The cart a computer was on was in the closet and lock on the art broken. The nurse believed he stole the Dell laptop, valued at $1,000. Police found him on Main Street where he admitted to stealing it and turned it over to police.
