City Turns Kids' Health, Safety Into Fun Family Affair

Bounce houses, free bicycle helmets, popcorn, a disc jockey, face painting and balloon sculptures attracted youngsters as their parents learned about health and safety measures.

Dozens of free activities for children — bounce houses, sand art, face painting and balloon sculpture among them — drew several hundred people downtown Saturday for the city's ninth annual Kids Health & Safety Day.

With Main Street blocked off from Court to College, families flocked to the event which also featured blood pressure screenings, gun locks, firefighters manning a smokehouse trailer, free dental and health screenings, child identification kids and much more.

The Kiwanis Club held a bicycle safety clinic and gave away helmets, the Freemasons offered dental impressions and fingerprinting and Middletown Police checked child car seats.
