City Teen Hurt in Wallingford Head-On Crash That Killed One

The accident, in which a 29-year-old man's Subaru collided with a Hyundai driven by a Wallingford teen, injured Justin Cyr of Middletown.

Wallingford Police are investigating a head-on crash crash that claimed the life of a 29-year-old Naugatuck man and injured a Middletown teen.

The accident took place on Cook Hill Road at the intersection of Shelby Drive in Wallingford just after 10:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25. Police said the driver of one vehicle, Brandon J. Genovese, was pronounced dead at MidState Medical Center.

The occupants of the other vehicle — Darin A. Quagliaro, 17, of Wallingford, and Justin Cyr, 18, of Middletown — were both transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital. Their injuries were non-life threatening, police said.

According to the police report, Genovese was driving a 1998 Subaru Legacy and Quagliaro a 2011 Hyundai Sonata.

The roadway was closed for several hours while police investigated. Anyone who may have information about the accident is asked to contact Officer Christian Evans at 203-294-2819.
