City Man Charged With Stealing Toilet Paper

Middletown Police Activity Through April 3

Middletown Police report the following incidents:

CRIMINAL VIOLATION OF PROTECTIVE ORDER — On April 3, Allstin Barnes, 23, of Treat Road, Wethersfield, was a passenger in a car traveling on Main Street with a suspended registration. The driver was found to have a protective order against him. He was given an April 4 court date.

CRIMINAL VIOLATION OF PROTECTIVE ORDER — On April 1, Edwin Ortiz, 44, of Main Street was found on Warwick Street sleeping on the couch of a woman who has a protective order against him. He was given an April 4 court date.

DRIVING UNDER INFLUENCE, OPERATING MOTOR VEHICLE WITH SUSPENDED DRIVERS LICENSE AND WITHOUT INSURANCE, FAILURE TO MAINTAIN LANE — On April 1, Jini R. Barnum, 28, of Main Street turned herself into police headquarters for outstanding warrant stemming from Oct. 18, 2010. She was given an April 8 court date.

SIXTH-DEGREE LARCENY — On March 23, Emmanuel T. Torres, 19, of Grand Street admitted to stealing a pack of toilet paper from an unlocked, parked car on Vine Street. He was given an April 6 court date.

SIXTH-DEGREE LARCENY — On March 23, Renaldo Hidalgo of Willow Street, Meriden, was seen by Wesleyan Public Safety looking into cars along Church Street with two others. Hidalgo was found with a stolen iPod and his companions told police he had stolen it from an unlocked car on campus. He was given an April 6 court date.

SECOND- AND FIRST-DEGREE (TWO COUNTS) FAILURE TO APPEAR — An informant told police that Donna J. Dickenson, 56, of Main Street was in a home on Grove Street. She has two felony and one misdemeanor re-arrest warrants stemming from a Nov. 2, 2010, incident. She has an April 4 court date.

SECOND OFFENSE, OWNING OR HARBORING NUISANCE DOG, VIOLATION OF RESTRAINING ORDER — On March 22, the dog of Kevin Malone, 59, of Chamberlain Hill Road, attacked another dog, causing severe injury. On March 23, the dog bit the animal control officer. Malone has an April 6 court date.

POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA — On March 15, Shelly  A. Urban, 43, of Hazen Road, Chester, was driving down Main Street without a seat belt with an expired registration. The officer smelled crack cocaine smoke inside the car and observed her right eyebrow had recently been burned off. Inside a cigarette pack, the officer discovered a clear glass crack pipe, burnt, with a screen and residue. She was given an April 6 court date.
