City Man Caught for DUI, Driving at Night Without Headlights

Middletown Arrests Through March 15

Middletown Police report the following incidents:

DISORDERLY CONDUCT, THIRD-DEGREE CRIMINAL MISCHIEF — On March 15, police were called to 31 Arnold St., for a domestic. The victim said her husband was intoxicated and throwing things at her. Brian M. Rahrig, 48, was found by police on the sofa. He admitted to grabbing a Nintendo DS out of the victim’s hands and smashing it on the floor, according to the report. He was given a March 16 court date.

SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — On March 15, Shane Curran, 21, of Union Street, Middletown, walked into Middletown Police and turned himself in on a PRAWN warrant on a CSP Troop F motor vehicle arrest. He was given an April 5 court date.

POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, SECOND-DEGREE BREACH OF PEACE — On March 15 at 8:14 p.m., officers responded to a domestic at 400 Washington St., Middletown. Douglas Rowland, 58, of Glynn Avenue was seen in a heated argument with his fiancé in the hallway. Police patted him down and found a pipe used to smoke crack cocaine in his pocket. He was given a March 16 court date.

OPERATING AN UNREGISTERED MOTOR VEHICLE, MISUSE OF A MARKER PLATE — On March 14 at 1:09 p.m., police saw a green Dodge Intrepid stopped on Newfield Street with its flashers on and hood up. Registration information showed a different make and model car. Jeremy M. Padilla, 21, of Hotchkiss Street, Middletown, told police the car was insured but not registered. He allegedly told police he was driving with a friend’s plate. His court date is March 23.

OPERATING AN UNREGISTERED MOTOR VEHICLE AND WITHOUT INSURANCE — On March 14 at 8:58 a.m., Shardae A. Botelho, 25,  of Laurel Street, Middletown, was driving a gray Toyota Camry south on Smith Street. DMV records revealed the car was unregistered. Botelho allegedly told police she couldn’t register the car because it couldn’t pass emissions. She was given a March 22 court date.

DUI, FAILURE TO ILLUMINATE LIGHTS, OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE WITHOUT A DRIVERS LICENSE, FAILURE TO OBEY TRAFFIC SIGNAL — On March 14, Raymond Rogala, 44, of East Main Street, Middletown, was seen traveling north on Main Street without his headlights on, then went through a red light at Washington Street. He failed the field sobriety test, according to the report. His arrest records include six priors for DUI. Two breath tests revealed a blood alcohol content of .282 at 2 a.m. and .275 at 2:21 a.m. He was given a March 22 court date.

OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE WITHOUT REGISTRATION AND INSURANCE, POSSESSION OF UNDER 4 OZ MARIJANA AND DRUG PARAPHERNALIA — On March 12, an officer, driving behind a car operated by Michael E. Fontanella, 37, of Millbrook Road, Middletown, on East Main Street found the license plate suspended due to lack of insurance. Police asked Fontanella if he had anything illegal on him, and he turned over a small plastic bag with 5 grams of marijuana, according to the report. It later tested positive for TCH. A search of the car revealed Zig Zag rolling papers and a pair of small scissors, which he identified as roach clips. He has a March 23 court date.

SIXTH-DEGREE LARCENY — On March 1 at 4 p.m., Middletown Police responded to Rite Aid Pharmacy on Main Street on the report of a shoplifter in custody. The loss prevention agent said he had seen Andrew Lima, 19, of Sigourney Street, Boston, pick four items from the shelf and conceal three in his jacket. The report says Lima paid for one item, then left the store. The value of the items totaled $16.48. He was given a March 15 court date.

OPERATING WITH A SUSPENDED REGISTRATION, AND WITHOUT INSURANCE — On March 11, Ashley A. Lombardo, 24, of Walnut Street, Middletown, was driving white a Toyota Camry south on West Street, when the car came up as unregistered. She said she was award it was uninsured. She has a March 23 court date.

SIXTH-DEGREE LARCENY — On Aug. 11, 2010, Neil Langevin, 33, of Round Hill Road, Bristol, turned himself in on a warrant and given a March 30 court date. He had turned himself in earlier in the day to both Manchester and Glastonbury police for outstanding warrants.
