State Police: Body Found in Pickup at River Road Commuter Lot

The death is being called untimely by Connecticut State Police investigators.

The commuter lot off Eastern Drive in Middletown Wednesday afternoon was the scene of a State Police investigation after the body of an individual with self-inflicted wounds was discovered in a pickup just before 3 p.m., according to the Hartford Courant.

The victim's name was withheld pending notification of the deceased's family as was the cause of death, State Police say.

Major crimes investigators focused on a dark red, newer model Chevrolet Silverado, backed into a far corner space of the 86-capacity lot, which is serviced by CT Transit's Express Bus Service.

With the lot nearly three-quarters full at 4:40 p.m., a State Police investigator on scene was trying to determine what type of people use these park-and-ride spots.

The state Department of Transportation offers such lots for commuters to leave their cars while they use carpools, vanpools, buses or trains for their trips to work. Here, commuters can hop right on Route 9 Exit 12.
