Middletown Police Blotter: July 5-16

The following information was provided by the Middletown Police Department's public information officer. An arrest does not constitute a conviction and all defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Police report the following incidents:

MISSING — On July 15 at 1:58 p.m., James Porto, 36, escaped from custody at the Eddy Center at 1 LaBella Circle in Middletown, according to Connecticut State Police, Troop F, Westbrook. The reports says the building and property were searched and he was not found; his incarceration states Porto must "stay on the property unless "otherwise instructed."

SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — On July 16 at 10:54 a.m., Meriden Police alerted Middletown Police they had Jessica Alvarado, 36, of Mill Street, Meriden, in custody on an outstanding warrant.

CRUELTY TO ANIMALS — On July 7 at 10:50 a.m., police were called to Stop and Shop on East Main Street for a report of animal cruelty after Pamela Tirado, 53, of Killingworth Road, Higganum, left her dog in a Nissan Sentra. The caller said a very small white dog was barking and panting in a car in 90-degree heat and she tried to give it water through the crack in the window, the report says. When police arrived, all four windows were open one inch and the car was unlocked, the report says. Twenty minutes later, Tirado returned, saying she was only in a store a few minutes.

OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE WHEN REGISTRATION SUSPENDED — On July 5 at 8:54 a.m., Sapfo Angelakopoulos, 30, of Janet Lane, Vernon, was driving a Chevy Cobalt on Main Street.
