PD: Woman Unknowingly Charges Officer $100 For 'Date'

Middletown Police say an officer received a phone call from a man trying to set him up with a prostitute — both were charged in the subsequent sting.

SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — On June 6 at 9 a.m., Krystal Cappa, 26, of Black Rock Avenue, New Britain, turned herself in on an outstanding warrant from New Britain.

POSSESSION OF LESS THAN 4 OUNCES MARIJUANA, POSSESSION WITH INTENT TO SELL, POSSESSON OF AND DISTRIBUTION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES WITHIN 1,500 FEET OF SCHOOL, NONSTUDENT POSSESSING DRUGS NEAR SCHOOL — On June 5 at 7:30 p.m., a male was seen sitting on a cement wall near Pearl and Liberty streets. Curtis K. Jones, 34, of Oakland Trail, Hartford, was seen walking on Pearl Street. Police say he is a convicted felon with multiple arrests for possession, possession with intent to sell and sale of narcotics. The report says the two men yelled to each other but Jones saw the police cruiser and kept walking. A search of Jones revealed a bag with 2.1 grams of crack cocaine, the report says, a bag of marijuana weighing 1.2 grams, $174 in cash, a cell phone with text messages regarding drug prices and sales. Officers report Jones said, “I use drugs and sell drugs, I just don’t sell.” The report says Jones has four pending cases, two of which involve narcotics, and has nine convictions for narcotics.

SECOND-DEGREE BREACH OF PEACE — On June 5 at 4:59 p.m., police were called to Main and College streets for an intoxicated person, Ahmed Kakay, 28, of Plaza Drive. He was brought to Middlesex Hospital, the report says, and refused to change into hospital clothes, then swore and pushed security officers to get his cell phone back.

BREACH OF PEACE — On June 3, Christian Lopez of Oregon Road, Meriden, was in a physical fight with another man outside Mezzo’s bar on Court Street. Lopez says the argument started after the man touched his female friends in an inappropriate sexual way, the report details.

DUI, MAKING IMPROPER TURN, FAILURE TO CARRY LICENSE — On June 3 at 10:45 p.m., Myron K. Craig, 20, of Stoney Crest Drive was driving on Newfield Street, stopped at a flashing yellow light, then drove over a curb, hit a newspaper box and returned to the road, just missing a telephone pole. Police say he denied drinking alcohol, saying only he had smoked pot, but he smelled of alcohol and he failed a sobriety test. He refused a breath test.

THIRD-DEGREE ASSAULT, DISORDERLY CONDUCT — On June 1 at 7:15 a.m., Jennifer Newman, 29, of Barberry Road, East Haven, turned herself in on an outstanding warrant.

SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — On June 1 at 8 p.m., Travis Lanier, 33, of Woodbury Circle was found by police at home on an outstanding warrant.

SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — On June 1 at 8:30 a.m., Yvette Roldan, 53, of Enfield Street, East Hartford turned herself in on an outstanding warrant.

USE OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, BREACH OF PEACE, THREATENING — On June 1 at 9 a.m., Anthony J. Cugno, 28, of South Main Street was in a fight with his neighbor and implied he had a rifle and “he would use it,” police say. Officers stopped him in an Oldsmobile driving away and a search revealed a glass smoking pipe. Cugno showed officers his lever-action Marlin 30/30 and two Winchester rounds.

INTERFERING WITH OFFICER, PROSTITUTION — On May 31 at 5:30 p.m., a plains clothes policeman received a cell phone call from a man, John Tosta, 41, of Town Brooke Drive, who asked if he was the man who called him the day before from M-Mart looking for a girl. The report says the cost was $100 for a 30-minute “date” with Lea Commorah Fuller, 20, of Town Brooke, who confirmed they would have sex. She told the officer it was a “much cheaper price than she would normally agree to.” Police set up a sting to meet the man and woman at East Street near Grandview Terrace, the report says, and they recognized Fuller as having several prior encounters. She ran and had to be tackled by officers. Tosta physically refused arrest and had to be struck three times. Both were charged with interfering; Fuller additionally for prostitution and first-degree failure to appear, and Tosta additionally for third-degree promoting prostitution.

VIOLATION CONDITIONS OF RELEASE, THIRD-DEGREE LARCENY, FRAULENT USE OF ATM — On May 31 at 3 a.m., police were called to Southington Police to pick up Jeffrey Pulito, 42, of Moore Hill Drive, Southington, because he had outstanding warrants from Middletown and Southington.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT, INTERFERING WITH OFFICER — On May 30 at 5:58 p.m., Cristo Easter, 17, of Grove Street was seen arguing with Gilberto Quintanal, 18, of Cynthia Lane on the corner of Rapallo Avenue and Main Street during rush hour traffic and many pedestrians. Both men refused to leave, the report says, and swore at officers. Quintanal appeared aggressive to officers, so one pepper sprayed him although he continued to fight, the report says. Easter was asked to walk away again but kept swearing at officers so he was arrested for continuing to fight on Main and Ferry streets. Michael A. Kyles, 24, of Stevenson Road, Meriden, began to argue with officers.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT — On May 30 at 12:48 p.m., a female victim called police after having a verbal argument with her son, Joseph Velez, 21, of Main Street, because he had a cigarette in the house. The report says she was visibly shaken, had trouble breathing and had her asthma inhaler in the hands. She said he refused to put it out and yelled and swore at her.

FAILURE TO DRIVE IN PROPER LANE, OPERATION WITHOUT MINIMUM INSURANCE, DISTRACTED DRIVING — On May 29, Marcey N. Blake, 43, of Washington Street was driving a Chevrolet on East Street and leaned over to adjust the radio, ran off the roadway and hit several delineator signs, a DOT curve sign, a mailbox and severed a wooden utility pole. Blake told officers she heard a loud noise and everything went blank. 

FAILURE TO HAVE LIGHTS LIT, OPERATION UNREGISTERED VEHICLE AND WHILE LICENSE IS SUSPENDED — On May 29 at 10:14 p.m., Tasia M. Butler, 20, of Wildwood Court, Rockfall, was seen by police driving a Mitsubishi on Main Street without her lights lit.

SIXTH-DEGREE LARCENY — On May 29 at 11:45 a.m., Linda Mozzicato, 42, of Newton Street turned herself in on an outstanding warrant.

SECOND-DEGREE BREACH OF PEACE — On May 29, police say Jeffrey M. Bromson, 35, of Spring Street followed his soon-to-be-ex-wife in his car while she was driving, screaming and swearing at her and circling her car with his. A witness confirmed the victim’s story.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT — On May 29, Andre Rich, 36, of Lincoln Street fought with his 15-year-old daughter and slapped her in the face, leaving behind a red mark, police say, after she said she didn’t want him in her life. Rich, who police say was just released from prison after 22 months, denied hitting her but a witness saw it. The report says prior to his jail time, Rich was absent from his daughter’s life for 10 years.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT — On May 29, Keith Moore, 43, of Augur Street, Hamden, was at a disturbance on Military Road, in which his son, Quincy Moore, 20, argued with him and punched him in the face. One witness saw the son slap the father in the head; another saw Qunicy threatening his dad with a shovel. Both were arrested.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT — On May 29, two off-duty state troopers were flagged down by a man at a barbershop across the street from his home on Warwick Street. Inside, the report says, was Brenden Bidsell, 46, and his brother Ben Bidwell, 53, of Warwick Street. Brenden, who had a broken ankle, said Benjamin came into the living room and assaulted him. Ben had had cuts and scratches on his face and chest, police say. Ben said his brother was intoxicated and pushed him into a wall, breaking a clock, then jumped on him and punched and scratched him in the face and chest. Brenden admitted to drinking several alcoholic beverages beforehand. Both were charged with the above; Brenden additionally for third-degree assault.

FAILURE TO OBEY CONTROL SIGNAL, ILLEGAL OPERATION UNDER SUSPENSION, FAILURE TO CARRY PROOF OF INSURANCE — On May 28 at 12:56 a.m., David F. Beaudon, 24, of Todd Hollow Road, Wolcott, was seen by police driving a Subaru Legacy driving through a red light at Washington and Main streets.

FAILURE TO WEAR SAFETY BELT, OPERATION WHEN LICENSE IS SUSPENDED — On May 27 at 7:57 p.m., Johnny Quiles Jr., 22, of Sorries Street, Meriden, was driving a Volkwagen Jetta without a seatbelt.

INTERFERING WITH OFFICER, EVADING RESPONSIBILITY, POSSESSION LESS THAN 4 OUNCES MARIJUANAN — On May 27 at 2:33 a.m., Nichole Langless, 26, of Plaza Drive was involved in a three-car accident off Plaza Drive and charged with hitting two others up the street. Her criminal history includes DWI, first-degree larceny, criminal trover and criminal mischief.

THIRD-DEGREE LARCENY — On May 27, Vincent Bucchieri, 22, of North Colony Road, Meriden, was stopped on Fountain Avenue by Wesleyan Public Safety officers after he allegedly tried to return laptops and iPod, valued at $2,000, he had stolen May 20 from a party. The report says he told officers returning them “was the right thing to do.”

OPERATION UNREGISTERED VEHICLE, INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM —On May 26 at 6:57 p.m., Tracy Scirpo, 48, of Front Street was driving a Chevrolet Blazer on Cross Street with an expired registration.

OPERATION UNREGISTERED VEHICLE, AND WHILE LICENSE IS SUSPENDED — On May 26, James Ismail, 22, of Long Lane was driving a Toyota on East Main Street.

OPERATION WHEN LICENSE SUSPENDED — On May 24 at 5:13 p.m., Wayne Yopp, 50, of Daddario Road was driving on Main Street toward Grand with two children in the back not in seatbelts.

POSSESSION LESS THAN 4 OUNCES MARIJUANA, USE OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, ILLEGAL SALE OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, POSSESSION ALCOHOL BY MINOR —On May 23 at 9:37 a.m., Aaron Davis, 19, of East Lake Place was driving a Honda Accord on Newfield Street with dark tinted windows and not wearing a seatbelt. A search revealed a backpack with two bags with 34.2 grams of marijuana inside, the report says, a marijuana grinder and opened bottle of vodka.

CRIMINAL TRESPASS — On May 22 at 12:57 p.m., Anthony Perry, 22, of East Main Street was found at Wesleyan University’s Olin Library by police, after being told he could not be there. The report says has been charged in the past with simple trespass. Perry told officers he only went there because it was raining and he needed to use the bathroom, the report details.

SIXTH-DEGREE LARCENY — On May 22 at 10:45 p.m., Ryan S. Bates, 24, of Devonshire Lane, Madison, was stopped by police at Old Mill Road and Washington Street and found with an outstanding warrant. Police found his surrogate grandmother’s wallet in his back pocket, which he said he had because he had asked to borrow money from her that day and forgot to return it. The woman told officers he stole the wallet and the $40 inside. The report says Bates has prior arrests for sixth- and third-degree larceny.

DUI, ILLEGAL OPERATION, RIDER OUTSIDE VEHICLE, POSSESSION CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE — On May 20 at 9:25 p.m., police on patrol on Old Mill Road near Washington Street saw a woman climbing out of the sunroof of a GMC Yukon driven by Salvatore Morello, 33, of Home Avenue. When the officer asked Morello for his drivers license, he just stared with a slack jaw, the report says, and offered a blank piece of paper. The report says, “he had a difficult time forming coherent thoughts, failed to provide his name, and had trouble remembering his date of birth or the truck’s owner.” A small amount of PCP was found on the back seat.

ILLEGAL OPERATION UNDER SUSPENSION — On May 21 at 7:21 a.m., an officer patrolling Newfield and Washington streets saw a Toyota Tercel driven by Hally Padilla, 21, of Rose Circle with a taillight out. She was charged with not having a drivers license.
