Police: Middletown Parolee Found With 7.6 Grams of Crack in Car

Middletown Police report the following incidents.

THIRD-DEGREE ASSAULT — On Oct. 7, Jakwan Walton, 20, of Main Street was at the 500 block of Main Street on top of a victim actively fighting with him near the street curb. Witnesses said Walton was the aggressor, who punched the victim in the face and called his friends to help with the beating. The victim said he was kicked in the head by multiple people but didn’t know who. A witness said they jumped into a sedan and fled. The victim had severe bruising to the face, forehead and welt above his eye and cut on the wrist.

FIRST-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — On Oct. 7 at 7 a.m., Carrie Wagner, 35, of Klan Drive, Wolcott, turned herself in on an outstanding warrant from East Hampton.

POSSESSION WITH INTENT TO SELL DRUGS, DISTRIBUTION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE WITHIN 1,500 FEET OF SCHOOL — On Oct. 6 at 2:30 p.m., Keshawn Tyler, 25, of Maplewood Terrace was stopped for a motor vehicle violation at Liberty and Pearl streets. Police said he was making suspicious movements inside the car. He was found with 7.6 grams of crack cocaine under his seat. He is on probation from a 2009 conviction for possession of controlled substances with intent to sell.

SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — On Oct. 6 at 10:43 a.m., police stopped a car with passenger Vincent A. Tedesco, 22, of no certain address, East Hampton, on Spring Street for a cracked windshield and the driver not wearing his seatbelt. Tedesco appeared really nervous to officers and was found with an outstanding warrant.

TWO COUNTS SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — On Oct. 6 at 10:55 p.m., William Ezell, 48, of St. John Street turned himself into police.

SECOND-DEGREE BREACH OF PEACE — On Oct. 5 at 7:46 p.m., police were called to the 500 block of High Street for a domestic violence incident. Carol A. Malloy, 58, of High Street said Vern R. Beckwith, 48, of High Street was “picking on her again” and wouldn’t stop. Malloy, whom police say has psychiatric issues, gave him the phone to call police and an argument began in which she threw a lit cigarette at him which hit him in the face. The two, the report says, had been arguing about his drinking; and he was drinking when police arrived but did not look drunk. Police say it’s an ongoing issue between the two, with Beckwith paying Malloy’s rent since she is on Section 8. Both were arrested and police say they went to bed in separate rooms when they left.

POSSESSION WITH INTENT TO SELL DRUGS, NO LICENSE TO MANUFACTURE CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES, OPERATION OF DRUG FACTORY, USE OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, POSSESSION OF ASSAULT WEAPON — On Oct. 5 at 5 p.m., John A. Rose, 24, of Town Colony Drive, Meriden, turned himself into police in an active warrant.

FOUR COUNTS SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — On Oct. 5, Melinda Mandell, 20, of Main Street, East Hampton, was arrested in the 700 block of Millbrook Road on outstanding warrants.

BREACH OF PEACE — On Oct. 5 at 8:54 p.m., police were called to the home of William Rodriguez, 44, of Saybrook Road for the report of a domestic in which a man had a knife and was now outside the apartment. An officer was holding Rodriguez face down on the ground at gunpoint. The victim was distraught with visible spit in her hair. She told police at 5 or 6 p.m., Rodriguez came home highly drunk. He told the victim he wanted her out, spit in her face, stripped the bed and swore at her. He then held a pocketknife near her face and spit at her and the mirror. He had a steak knife with which he cut his wrist saying he would tell police she did it to get her out of the home. She called 911 and saw him cutting himself and punching himself in the face. He told police he raised his hand in defense and she cut it. Police said the cuts were straight and appeared self-inflicted. He refused medical treatment.

FIRST-DEGREE CRIMINAL DAMAGE OF LANDLORD’S PROPERTY, DISORDERLY CONDUCT — On Oct. 1 at 2 a.m., Alex Lough, 20, of Washington Street, a Wesleyan University student, was seen by witnesses breaking wooden spindles on the porch of his apartment building and throwing pieces at cars. He told police he had broken a window when he was locked out. Wesleyan Public Safety said the damage was between $3,000 and $5,000.

SIXTH-DEGREE LARCENY — On Sept. 23 at 12:06 a.m., Michael Dauzat, 24, of Main Street, Portland, was found with a stolen Garmin (worth $92) and TomTom GPS (worth $78).
