Middletown Arrests: June 10-20

The following police reports are obtained directly from the Middletown Police public information officer and inclusion on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

Middletown and Newington Police report the following incidents:

June 20

POSSESSION WITH INTENT TO SELL, DISTRIBUTION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES, POSSESSION NARCOTICS, TAMPERING WITH EVIDENCE, INTERFERING WITH OFFICER — At 8:44 p.m., Damien L. West, 33, of High Street, New Britain, fled from narcotics detectives during an investigation, according to the report, tried to swallow crack cocaine as he ran and throw a bag of crack. In all 3.1 grams of cocaine was found, according to police.

SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — At 7:04 p.m., Alicia Hamblin, 23, of Main Street, Hartford, turned herself in on an outstanding warrant from Cromwell.

BREACH OF PEACE, THREATENING — At 9:45 a.m., Rigano Vittorio, 74, of Poplar Road was arrested by Newington Police on Holmes Road there.

June 18

TWO COUNTS SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR, FAILURE TO RESPOND — At 7:20 p.m., Michael A. Menegus, 26, of Johnson Street was at the scene of an assault on deKoven Drive and found with outstanding warrants.

June 15

OPERATION WHEN LICENSE IS SUSPENDED, RECKLESS DRIVING — At 9:13 p.m., Allen L. Freeman, 25, of East Main Street, was driving a Chevrolet Impala on Wadsworth Street near Long Lane and sped away from a police cruiser as it passed. The report says he sailed through a stop sign at 40mph, accelerated to 60, then 90mph, kicking up sand and road debris on Long Lane, then swerved around a Ford F350 pickup that was ahead of him. Once stopped, the report says, Allen told police, "I didn't take off on you," and gave his brother's identification information. The report says police smelled a strong scent of marijuana in the car and a canine couldn't find any inside or thrown into the roadway.

June 13

OPERATE UNREGISTERED VEHICLE, IMPROPER USE MARKER PLATE, INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM, OPERATION WHEN LICENSE IS SUSPENDED — At 3:02 p.m., Andreas C. Guliani, 22, of Farm Lane, Portland, was driving a Honda Accord on Main Street without a front license plate. The report says he sped in an effort to evade police, who chased him to Berlin Street. He has five outstanding warrants from Middletown, Portland, and state police. A marijuana grinder was found in the car, according to the report.

June 10

OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE WITHOUT A LICENSE, EVADING RESPONSIBILITY — At 7 p.m., police responding to a car accident at the main parking lot of Middlesex Hospital on Crescent Street discovered Juan G. Matos, 18, of Valley Street, New Haven, driving a sedan, had hit a female's car, then left the scene. The report says police found him from the hospital staff directory as having worked that night and they found a woman who was waiting for her boyfriend to pick her up in the parking lot with her car. She called Matos and he met with police in the parking lot of Bielefield School, then told them, according to the report, the woman pulled in front of him in the parking lot and he panicked after the crash.
