Middletown Arrests: Sept. 20 to Oct. 3

The following information was provided by the Middletown Police Department public information officer. An arrest does not constitute a conviction and all defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Middletown Police report the following incidents:

WEAPONS IN VEHICLES, CARRYING DANGEROUS WEAPON — On Oct. 3 at 9:02 p.m., Douglas Conrad Braelfort, 44, of Washington Street was a passenger in a car driving on Newfield Street with only one working headlight. The report says the driver admitted his Massachusetts license was suspended and both men smelled of alcohol. A search revealed Braelfort had brass knuckles concealed in his shirt, the report says. He is a convicted felon with multiple drug arrests and burglary and sexual assault.

VIOLATION OF PROTECTIVE ORDER, DISORDERLY CONDUCT — On Oct. 3 at 8:15 a.m., Wayne Yopp, 50, of Grove Street was at an apartment on Grove Street to which police were called after he hit his wife’s face with his hand and cut her lip after an argument, the report says. On Oct. 4 at 7:46 a.m., he returned to the home even though he had a restraining order against him, police say. Yopp told officers he truly believed he could go home to get clothes for court, the report indicates.

TWO COUNTS VIOLATION OF PROBATION — On Oct. 3 at 6:04 p.m. police were at a home on the 600 block of Main Street and saw John M. Ingalls, 50, of Spring Street, who had an outstanding warrant.

CRIMINAL IMPERSONATION, POSSESSION NARCOTICS — On Sept. 29 at 2:27 a.m., Kevin D. Philipchik, 19, of Bartlett Street, Portland, was driving a Chevrolet Blazer that exited a Wesleyan parking lot on High Street in front of a police cruiser without an illuminated plate. The report says he kept reaching into his pants pocket, then handed the officer a driver’s license in another person’s name. A pat-down revealed a bag with 1.2 ounces of cocaine, according to the report. At headquarters, Philipchik admitted he had shown his twin brother’s identification, the report reveals, but couldn’t explain why or how he had possession of it.

OPERATE UNREGISTERED VEHICLE AND WHILE LICENSE IS SUSPENDED, INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM — On Sept. 22, Exsatamara Gonzalez, 30, of Edwin Street, Bridgeport, was driving on Pearl and Liberty streets with a registration expired since May and a license that expired in June 2011. She told the officer she was getting the car, which belonged to a man, detailed and was on her way home, the report indicates.

OPERATE UNREGISTERED VEHICLE, ILLEGAL OPERATION UNDER SUSPENSION — On Sept. 20, Carla Palmer, 42, of Thimble Rock Road was driving on South Main Street with a suspended license.
