Altrusa International of Central Connecticut Gives Blankets, Books to Soup Kitchen

Altrusa International of Central CT made a donation of blankets and books to Amazing Grace recently in Middletown.

 

Altrusa International of Central CT has been active in Central Connecticut since 1956 and makes the community better through leadership, partnership, and service. Locally, the projects focus on Literacy for All Ages. 

Projects include: ABC-Altrusa Books for the Community, books are collected and distributed to the community literacy needs of all ages, Altrusa's Little Free Library placed at the North End Action Team and St. Vincent DePaul's Soup Kitchen providing books as needed, World Book Night, members volunteer to hand out books to light or non readers, Gerard F. Melito Senior Poetry Contest, senior residents enter original poetry and Altrusa hosts a poetry reading and reception.

Additional projects include: High School Senior Award of $1,000, Middlesex Community College Scholarship of $500, Hungry Babies are NOT an Illusion -a year-round Baby Food and Diaper drive donated to the local food pantry and agencies assisting families, Remember our Women Veterans -donating items needed by our local Women Vets, Seasonal Baskets -donated to Cromwell Human Services for those in need.
