What's On Tonight: 'Survivor: One World,' 'American Idol,' 'Whitney Houston: Last Days of a Legend'

TV tips for Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012

"Survivor: One World," 8 p.m., CBS

It's back! But no Redemption Island! Booo! I guess they decided the One Guy Keeps Winning Only To Totally Lose In The End wasn't really effective storytelling. I for one might miss it. This season's crop looks particularly shallow and narcissistic based on the previews. "As the contestants are divided into teams — men versus women — they learn that they must share one beach." Ooooo - one beach. Nice!

"American Idol," 8 p.m., Fox

I confess. I watched 3 1/2 minutes last week. I wanted to see the part where the girl fell off the stage. Speaking of metaphors, I found it to be so formulaic and predictable that it wasn't even worth waiting for the tumble. Zzzzz. Bye Idol. Thanks for the memories.

"Whitney Houston: Last Days Of A Legend," 9 p.m., E!

Well, they are pulling these specials together faster than you can say "Hell to the no." I read somewhere that Glee will have the Whitney tribute episode ready week after next! Amazing!
