Parent: Farm Hill Behavior Modification is Degrading for Students

The mother of a grade-schooler in Middletown was so shocked at her son's behavior plan that she is homeschooling him.

To the Editor:

I have a son who witnessed the scream rooms from last year in use right across the hall where he was sitting for lunch and again after the new interim principal was put in place and the scream rooms were allegedly terminated.

He suffered severe health problems from the whole issue. I pulled him out to homeschool him and let him heal and planned on sending him back this fall.

Well, he went back this fall and after two days and then two days out sick, I was reading the paperwork his teacher sent home and was horrified to see a behavior plan put in place by the teacher, allegedly, that was two pages long.

There was so much time put into behavior modification that I didn't know how she would have the time to teach and he had to write a number (he was 17) that was assigned to each child after his name on every piece of paperwork and line up according to behavior number.

So all day is spent on behavior. I wrote an email and sent it to the teacher, principal, superintendant and mayor. I retired from law enforcement to raise my children, not only there, but common sense would tell anyone that referring someone by a number is disgusting, they do that in juvenile facilities, prison and Nazi concentration camps — is Farm Hill the new Long Lane?

This is disgusting to me and still no better than locking them up. When will it end?
