John (Spiros) Delegan, 88, of Middletown, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at Middlesex Hospital. Born in Lesvos, Greece, he was the son of the late John and Katina (Zimbounoumis) Delegan.
John had lived in Middletown since he was seven years old. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U. S. Army, was a teacher in the Middletown School system for 25 years and a lifelong member of the YMCA.
John is survived by Jean P. Delegan; his daughter, Alissa Susanne Delegan of Middletown; his son, Philip Mark Delegan and Juanita Beth Baldwin of Middletown; his sister, Elizabeth Brown and her husband, C. William of Sturbridge, Mass.; his brother, Louis A. Delegan and his wife, Eileen of Waterford and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Along with his parents, John is predeceased by his son, Michael J. Delegan.
The Delegan family would like to thank Middlesex Health Care Center for the wonderful care John received.
Per John's request, a private graveside service will be held. In lieu of flowers, friends may make donations in John's memory to Middlesex Hospital Hospice Unit, 28 Crescent Street, Middletown, CT 06457.
