Obituary: Christopher Schoen-Kiewert Dies at 34

Meriden resident passed away Monday following a Jet Ski accident on the Connecticut River.

Christopher Edward Schoen-Kiewert, 34, of Meriden, passed away on Monday, July 23rd at Hartford Hospital. Born in Daytona Beach, FL, he was the beloved son of Nelty Duran-Curley of Portland and Christian Schoen-Kiewert of Chile.

Chris lived in Middletown most of his life moving to Meriden eight years ago. He graduated from Cromwell High School and was managing partner and lead calibrator at EFI Logics in Bethel.

He was a leading contributor in his field and drew people in nationwide for both his vibrant personality and professional prowess. Chris had a passion for engines whether it was land or sea and whatever he did in life he always did it to the fullest.

Besides his parents, Chris is survived by his sister, Nicole Schoen-Kiewert; his maternal grandmother, Lucia Guzman; paternal grandmother, Adriana C. Kiewert; two uncles, Erich Schoen-Kiewert and Carlos Duran; a step-father, Donald Curley of Portland; one step-brother Ryan Curley of Portland; one step-sister, Emily Curley of Portland; two godchildren, Isabella and Alessia; his girlfriend and love of his life, Danielle Tardif of Meriden; and many cousins, friends, colleagues, and The River Crew.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pius X Church, 310 Westfield Street, Middletown on Saturday, July 28th at 10 a.m. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

Friends may call at the Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church Street, Middletown on Friday evening from 4 to 8 p.m. and in lieu of flowers, may make donations in honor of Chris's grandmother, Lucia Guzman to the Alzheimer Association CT Chapter, 2075 Silas Deane, Suite 100, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
