Obituary: Anne (Otfinoski) Halibozek, 96, of Middletown

Anne (Otfinoski) Halibozek, 96, of Middletown, wife of the late Stanley Halibozek Sr., died Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at Middlesex Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Rockfall, daughter of the late Thaddeus and Anelia (Jagoda) Otfinoski. Anne was an avid cook and baker, bringing her family together each Sunday until the age of 94.

She is survived by four sons, Stanley Halibozek Jr. and his wife Mary Ellen, of West Hartford; William Halibozek and his wife Ann of Cromwell; Peter Halibozek and his wife Lorranie of Kennsington; Maj. Philip Halibozek-(CSP-Ret) and his husband Matthew Sweeney of Cromwell; a daughter, Mary Ellen Mulligan and her husband LTC John Mulligan (CSP-Ret) of Stuart, Fla.; three sisters, Violet Atkinson of Hebron, Stefania Coates of Amston, Frances Dunn of Middletown; seven grandchildren, Kristen Roberts, Sharyn Lemley, Michael Lemley, Mark Halibozek, Kaitlin Halibozek, Peter Halibozek, Jr. and Bret Halibozek; four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Anne was predeceased by a brother John Otfinoski, four sisters Mary Zisk, Sophie Kukish, Catherine Sullivan and Josephine Connelly.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Weiss Hospice Care Unit at Middlesex Hospital and the Infusion Center at Hartford hospital for their compassionate care.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 16, at 9:15 a.m. from Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St. Middletown, followed by a 10 a.m. funeral liturgy at St. Mary of Czestochowa Church,  79 S Main St., Middletown.

Friends may call on Sunday, June 15, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Biega Funeral Home. Burial will be held in the State Veterans’ Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown.
