Mildred R. D'Apice, 83; Nurse Who Worked for the VNA in Meriden, Middletown

Calling hours and the funeral are scheduled for Saturday, June 7.


Mildred R. D'Apice, 83, of Meriden, died on June 4, 2014 at Stamford Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Meriden on May 9, 1931, the daughter of the late Rocco and Mary D'Apice, she had resided in Meriden for all of her life.

She graduated from Meriden High School, Class of 1948, received her BSN and MSN from the University of Connecticut. Ms. D'Apice was a registered nurse and was employed by the Meriden VNA and the Middletown VNA before retiring in 1992.

She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Meriden and attended St. John's Church in Darien, CT. She was very active in various church groups and organizations. She traveled extensively to many regions of the world. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and was especially close to all of her nieces and nephews.

She is survived by one sister, Arline D'Aquila, four nephews, Daniel and John D'Aquila and Lawrence and Ronn D'Apice; one niece, Mary Ellen Lehmann; five grandnephews and six grandnieces.

She was predeceased by brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Ann D'Apice, brother-in-law, Louis D'Aquila and nephew, Robert D'Aquila. 

The funeral will be held on Saturday, June 7, at 11 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden and at 11:30 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 109 Goodwill Ave., Meriden for a Mass of Christian Burial. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 9:30 to 11 a.m. prior to the Mass. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
