Reader: Suzio Accomplished More as Junior Senator Than Anyone

The reasons why Sen. Len Suzio deserves to be re-elected in the 13th District.

To the Editor:

I am writing to urge all voters in the 13th District to re-elect Republican Sen. Len Suzio.

The facts are as follows:

1. Sen. Suzio has accomplished more as a freshman senator from the minority party than any freshman senator ever has ... even from the majority party. He has far exceeded everyone's expectations.

2. The "Cap the Gas Tax" Initiative: Sen. Suzio single-handedly boxed the majority party into a corner wherein they not only were all for it ... but tried to take credit for it as well!

3. The Prisoner Early Release Program: Sen. Suzio says that it needs to be suspended. He has said this repeatedly and emphatically. It was thrown in at the last minute during the last legislative session and has already resulted in 2 deaths. That is 2 people that would be walking around today had this program NOT been in place.

The bottom line: Sen. Suzio is a tireless advocate for the people in the 13th District. Do yourself a favor and re-elect Sen. Len Suzio.

Sincerely,

Rebecca Tomaszewski, Middletown

I'll agree, but he must turn his efforts to balancing the state buget without accounting tricks and fix the tax code loop holes. "Cap the Gas Tax" & "The Prisoner Early Release Program" are nice starters, but he must now dig in and go after the democratic tax and spend machine.

Suzio made wanted cuts equally to all non profits- thats fair to me- why should planned parent hood not be cut and monies to a group that provides services to those with AIDS lets say not be? He isn't Anti Planned Parenthood, he wanted to spread the burden of less funding available to all groups equally

What exactly has he accomplished? He did lead the way for capping the gas tax..
What else? He hasn't done anything about prisoner early release program but complain about it and ignore the statistics that the program reduces crime. If ANYONE can show numbers that this is NOT the case then and ONLY then would they have a strong case. Yes there has been murders with early release inmates. But these inmates were not going to change if they stayed in another 3 - 6 months. The program reduces the % of inmates that commit crimes again and return to jail. Isn't that what is important?? Please explain to me otherwise.

Darrel- releasing violent inmates is stupid. You are just upset because the next DUI you get you will get a mandatory 3 year term and not be eligible for early release.

Suzio has been an excellent freshman senator. The Dems are just mad because they can't refute his record - which is sterling.

Roe vs Wade will not be overturned anytime soon so I don't understand why anyone would vote on one issue like that. He wants to cut taxes, stop early release the way it is set up now and bring sanity back to Hartford. Something we haven't had since governor Malloy was elected.

He has been at the forefront about early release program and has been one of the only states elected officials to do that.
The early release program has gotten two people killed that we know of and has hurt a number of other innocent in the state. How you don't understand that is a mystery. If the early release was cancelled two people that we know of would still be alive and that young girl on the bus in Middletown wouldn't have had that horrible image with her the rest of her life.
